EVA MARIE BOGUE

MEMPHIS Services for Eva Marie Bogue were at 10 a.m. today at Forest Hill Chapel-Midtown. Burial followed at Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery.

Mrs. Bogue died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Methodist Hospital of Germantown. She was 93.

She was a homemaker and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. William Bogue.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine Habeeb of Vicksburg and Wanda Bogue of Memphis; one son, Robert Bogue of Memphis; four grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church.

FRED DIXON JR.

Services for Fred Dixon Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with Willie Gross officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Dixon died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. He was 86.

He was retired from Waterways Experiment Station. He was a veteran of World War II and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Dixon; his father, Fred Dixon Sr.; his mother, Mariah Clark Dixon; a sister, Willie B. Cartwright; and a brother, Herman Dixon.

Survivors include two daughters, Corean Cooper and Jessie Chambliss, both of Vicksburg; one brother, George Dixon of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

THELMA G. FEDELL

Services for Thelma G. Fedell will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with Father Peter Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home with Trisagion prayers at 6:45.

Mrs. Fedell died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at her home. She was 75.

A longtime Vicksburg resident, Mrs. Fedell worked as a registered nurse for 27 years and became director of nursing at Vicksburg Medical Center until she retired in 1977. She was a member of St. George Orthodox Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Fedell; her parents, James Warner and Gertrude J. Showah; and one brother, Mike Showah.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Liggett of Vicksburg and Cynthia Dickson of Memphis; two brothers, George Showah of Atlanta and Joe Showah of Jackson; three sisters, Faye Shepherd of Hendersonville, Tenn., Melba Bowman of Jackson and Linda Grace of Salt Lake City, Utah; four grandchildren, Blake Liggett and Rebecca Liggett, both of Vicksburg, and Stephanie Dickson and Jennifer Dickson, both of Memphis; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Shepherd, Karl Mann, Mickey Fedell, Justin Showah, Jeff Showah, Jason Showah and Hayes Grace.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Caldwell, Tom Patin and Tony Showah.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

CHARLES NATHAN JOHNSON

EDWARDS Charles Nathan Johnson died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 42.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Friendship M.B. Church.

He is survived by his mother, Hattie Johnson Teague of Chicago; six brothers, Ike Green and Larry Williams, both of Vicksburg, Eddie Johnson and Ulysess Williams, both of Chicago, and Alphonso Williams and the Rev. Bernell Williams, both of Atlanta; 10 sisters, Paralean Johnson of Edwards, Ethel Johnson, Mary Richardson and Meshelle Richardson, all of Chicago, Earlean Murray, Linda Hall, Fannie Williams and Beatrice Williams, all of Vicksburg, Everlena Shackleford of Baytown, Texas, and Frances Tompkins of Atlanta; his maternal grandmother, Viola Moffett of Edwards; and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

JAMES A. NEAL

James A. Neal died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at his home. He was 81.

Mr. Neal was a native of Crossett, Ark., and was reared in Utica. He had been a Vicksburg resident for 60 years. He worked for the Corps of Engineers for nine years, serving as a fireman aboard riverboats and barges.

He was a truck driver and heavy-equipment operator for the City of Vicksburg, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Vicksburg Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Everett and Hettie Dean Neal; four brothers, Allen Houston Neal, Oscar Melvin Neal, Everett Lamar Neal and Jeff Davis Neal; and one sister, Willie Mae Neal.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Carlisle Neal of Vicksburg; two sons, Gene Neal of Vicksburg and Melvin Pugh of Sarasota, Fla.; one daughter, Inez Campbell of Booneville; a sister, Myrtle Inez Davis of Crystal Springs; seven grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Winkler, pastor of Vicksburg Church of God, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Donnell Youngblood, Pete Johnson, Bill Mangum, Wiley Glen Hambright, Charles Woodruff and David Jabour.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Neal, Ernest Krueger, Greg Vaughn and Teddy Crotwell.

BEATRICE RUSSELL

JACKSON Beatrice Russell died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Manhattan Nursing Home in Jackson. She was 85.

A native of Castor, La., Mrs. Russell had lived in Madison Parish for several years. She attended Mesa Baptist Church in Tylertown. She was a charter member of the Home Demonstration Club in Tallulah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruperte “Pete” Russell.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Russell of Alexandria, La.; three daughters, Margaret Brumfield of Tylertown, Marjorie Kirk of Jackson and Bettie Pigott of Vicksburg; her brother, Alvin Martin of Houston, Texas; six sisters, Oneal Nelson, Bertha Hall, Lillian Bailey and Rubye Easley, all of Shreveport, Dorothy Williams of Hempstead, Texas, and Lucille Beather of Fallbrook, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Cemetery in Castor with the Revs. Colin Wimberley and Tony Russell officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
