IRENER NEAL CLARK

Irener Neal Clark died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 87.

Mrs. Clark was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church, where she was on the Mother’s Board. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Joanna N. Neal; a sister, Helen Neal Rawlins; and two brothers, Tom Neal Sr. and Cleotha Neal.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Clark; a son, Tom Neal Jr. of Vicksburg; two brothers, Willie Neal of Vicksburg and Ben Neal of Chicago; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

CHARLES NATHAN JOHNSON

EDWARDS Services for Charles Nathan Johnson will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Friendship M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 42.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Friendship M.B. Church.

He is survived by his mother, Hattie Johnson Teague of Chicago; six brothers, Ike Green and Larry Williams, both of Vicksburg, Eddie Johnson and Ulysess Williams, both of Chicago, and Alphonso Williams and the Rev. Bernell Williams, both of Atlanta; 10 sisters, Paralean Johnson of Edwards, Ethel Johnson, Mary Richardson and Meshelle Richardson, all of Chicago, Earlean Murray, Linda Hall, Fannie Williams and Beatrice Williams, all of Vicksburg, Everlena Shackleford of Baytown, Texas, and Frances Tompkins of Atlanta; his maternal grandmother, Viola Moffett of Edwards; and other relatives.

MARIE ARWOOD OAKES

ARTEMUS, Ky. Marie Arwood Oakes died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at the Pineville Community Hospital in Kentucky. She was 84.

Mrs. Oakes was born in Mascot, Tenn. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of London, Ky., and attended Artemus Christian Church in Artemus. She was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Burleson Family Association and the Oakes Family Association. She was a retired licensed practical nurse at Pineville Community Hospital in Pineville, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Grantham Oakes; her parents, Winnie Burleson Arwood and William R. Arwood Sr.; and a brother, William R. Arwood Jr.

She is survived by her son, Robert Grantham Oakes II of Artemus; her daughter, Carolyn Oakes Sears of Artemus; her foster children, Jeanette MacMunn of Maine, Brenda Lewis of Jackson, Ky., and Alma Elaine Gross Oakes of Artemus; two foster grandchildren; and other relatives, including Donald Oakes, Sherman Hull and Betty Davis, all of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hopper Funeral Home in Barbourville, Ky., with Jim Feger officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Burial park in Johnson City, Tenn.

Visitation w ill be from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

EZEKIEL SIMS SR.

Services for Ezekiel Sims Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Shiloh M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Sims died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. He was 74.

Mr. Sims was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Mae Sims.

He is survived by two sons, Lee Dale Sims of Edwards and Ezekiel Sims Jr. of Gulfport; two daughters, Carrie Selvy and Pearlina Carter, both of Edwards; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Dorothy H. Sims, Henry Selvy and Percy Carter, all of Edwards, and Virginia Sims of Gulfport.

AURELLA FRANKLIN SMITH

Services for Aurella Franklin Smith will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Grove M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Shady Grove M.B. Church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church. Heroines of Jericho Silver Seal Chapter No. 212 fraternal rites will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Monday, July 29, 2002, at her home. She was 99.

A native of Warren County, Mrs. Smith was a member of Shady Grove M.B. Church where she served on the mother board.

She is survived by two daughters, Delores T. Smith of Memphis and Artimease Little of Springfield, Mass.; two sons, Isaac Smith Jr. and Charles E. Smith Sr., both of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

JESSIE BELLE TRIMBLE

Jessie Belle Trimble died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla. She was 84.

Mrs. Trimble was a native of Philadelphia and had lived in Vicksburg for 25 years. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Trimble; her parents, George and Louisa Cummings Taylor; a son, George Alexander; three brothers; and five sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Faye Stalls of Mimmokalee, Fla., Carolyn Thompson of Huntsville, Ala., and Jessie Thompson of Vicksburg; two sons, John Alexander of Mimmokalee and Sammie Alexander of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
