[08/15/02]Two 20-year-olds died and two 19-year-olds were injured when a pickup skidded off Fisher Ferry Road Wednesday night and slammed into a tree.

Michael Robert Patrick, 5103 Edinburg Road, and Jacob McMillin, 3121 S. Frontage Road, Apt. 206, both appeared to have died immediately of broken necks, Warren County Coroner John Thomason said.

The injured were identified as Johnathon Wilkinson, 5706 Lakeside Drive, and Angela Osborne, 163 Cottage Row.

Wilkinson was in stable condition this morning, and Osborne was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, hospital spokesman Diane Gawronski said.

All four appeared to have been seated, unrestrained, in the truck’s cab, Thomason said.

The wreck happened about 11:30 p.m. about six miles south of the Vicksburg city limits, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said. Thomason recorded the address as 6280 Fisher Ferry and said it was about a mile south of the entrance to Camelot subdivision.

Initial indications are that the truck was northbound when it went off the west side of the road, Pace said. The driver, identified as Patrick, then apparently overcorrected, with the truck sliding back across the road. The truck’s bed was broken off in the wreck, the sheriff said.

The wreck remained under investigation, Pace said.

Arrangements for both were incomplete and being handled by Fisher Funeral Home.

Wednesday’s fatal wreck was the first in Warren County since July 4 when Ryan Michelle Brannon, 14, was killed in a wreck on Dusty Road.
