ROSIE LEE JONES

Rosie Lee Jones died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.
Mrs. Jones, a housekeeper, retired from Mercy Hospital in 1988. She is a member of Greater Mount Lebanon M.B. Church and a former member of the Adult Choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Wells and Mary Farrish Wells; one son, Nathaniel “Bootie” Lee; one brother, John Countryman; and three sisters, Emma Lee Wells, Margaret Jones and Bernice Wells.
She is survived by her husband, Notton Jones Sr. of Vicksburg; one son, Notton Jones Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Dorothy Johnson and Mary Brown, both of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
JOSEPH LANE JR.
Joseph Lane Jr. died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at his home. He was 60.
Mr. Lane was a logger and a member of Pleasant Valley M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Metlowe.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Smith Lane of Vicksburg; his father, Joseph Lane Sr. of Mayersville; a stepson, Obie Cuff III of Vicksburg; three stepdaughters, Casandra Smith of Las Vegas and Sherah Smith and Tiffany Cuff, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Mary Ann Lane of California and Helen A. Lane of Greenville; a brother, Leroy Lane of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Valley M. B. Church. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.
JACOB LEWIS McMILLIN
Jacob Lewis McMillin died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 20.
Mr. McMillin was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. He graduated from Vicksburg High School and had attended Hinds Community College. He was employed for one year with The Flower Center as a landscaper and as a construction worker for Miller Construction Company. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Anthony McMillin; his maternal grandfather, Lee Jabour Joseph; his paternal grandfather, George Lewis McMillin Sr.; and an aunt, Jewell Ann Feminella.
He is survived by his mother, Vicky McMillin of Vicksburg; his father, Andy McMillin of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; his sister, Kassy Kay McMillin of Columbus, Ga.; his maternal grandmother, Evelyn C. Joseph of Vicksburg; his paternal grandmother, Della McMillin of McComb; and a niece and other relatives.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Trey Morgan, Jason Tarnabine, Bradley Tanner, Kain McKay, Blake Liggett and Caleb McKay.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnathan Wilkinson, John Hollingsworth, John R. Feminella and Mike Hollingsworth.
WALTER LEE NEWTON
LAKE PROVIDENCE Walter Lee Newton died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic in New Orleans. He was 77.
Mr. Newton moved to Lake Providence in 1945. He served as fire chief in 1955 and worked as a mechanic all of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bing N. Newton; and his mother, Callie Caroline Newton.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Newton of Lake Providence; two sons, Tony Newton and Gary Newton, both of Lake Providence; two brothers, Willis Newton and Lester Newton; three sisters, Margearet Sue Ferrara, Vergie Long and Nellie Gwen; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were Thursday at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence with V.W. Hayhearst officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
CARRO S. PRICE
Carro S. Price died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at Heritage House. She was 98.
Mrs. Price, a native of Stone County, had lived for a time in Arkansas, where she was employed by BellSouth Telephone Company. She was postmaster in McHenry, Miss., for a time before moving to Vicksburg. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Price of Vicksburg; a daughter, Mary Lloyd Wheat of Montgomery Ala.; a son, J. Wayne Price of Vicksburg; and three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were today at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Fisher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
