Services for Carro S. Price were Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Fisher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Price died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at Heritage House. She was 98.

She was a native of Stone County and had lived for a time in Arkansas, where she was employed by BellSouth Telephone Company. She was postmaster in McHenry, Miss., before moving to Vicksburg. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Price of Vicksburg; a daughter, Mary Lloyd Wheat of Montgomery Ala.; a son J. Wayne Price of Vicksburg; a sister, Dimple Fairley of Biloxi; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Bowmar Baptist Church, 1825 U.S. 61 South, Vicksburg, MS. 39180.

CHRISTINE THAMES

OAK GROVE Christine Thames died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at West Carroll Care Center in Oak Grove, La. She was 83.

Mrs. Thames was preceded in death by her husband, T.L. Thames; her parents James Archie and Ina Mae Rankin; her brother J.P. Rankin and her sister Betty Lou Rankin Finch.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou T. McAvoy of Bossier City, La., and Ina Mae T. Daniel of Monroe, La.; her son James Kiley Thames of Oak Grove; her brother James Archie Rankin Jr. of Bedford, Ind.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Paul Ninemire officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

KENNETH OTIS DERBY

PORT GIBSON Services for Kenneth Otis “James Brown” Derby were Sunday at Second Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Ray Coleman officiating. Burial followed at Bald Hill Cemetery in the Grand Gulf Community with Thompson Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Derby died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002. He was 39.

Mr. Derby was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Derby Jr. and Carlos LaDon Derby.

He is survived by his parents Charles Sr. and Annie Derby of Port Gibson; six sisters, Evelyn Carter of Vicksburg, Jacqueline Derby of Gautier, Tasha Derby of Jackson and Demetricia Montgomery, Mericka Liggans and LaQuinta Derby, all of Port Gibson; three brothers, Barry Derby, Carl Derby and Randy Derby all of Port Gibson; and a number of other relatives and friends.
