ELIJAH ELLIS

PORT GIBSON Elijah Ellis, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 100.

Mr. Ellis was a lifelong resident of Port Gibson. He was retired from the Old Box Factory in Port Gibson and was a member of Tillman Chapel Christian Church in Port Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Ellis of Port Gibson; two daughters, Jessie Thomas and Bobbie Rankin, both of Port Gibson; one sister, Carrie Johnson of Cleveland, Miss.; five grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

RICHARD ELLIS LANDREM

TALLULAH Richard Ellis Landrem died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at Madison Parish Hospital. He was 63.

Mr. Landrem was born in Lake Providence and had lived in Tallulah for 40 years. He was a retired seed company representative. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge No. 308.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Crawford.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Wright Landrem of Tallulah; two sons, Robbie Landrem of Rayville and Ricky Landrem of Tallulah; two daughters, Cindy Clark of Tallulah and Michelle Isaac of Transylvania; three sisters, Louise White of New Iberia, Mickie Flynn of Monroe and Betty Sullivan of Transylvania; and 10 grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Providence.

MYRTLE PEARLINE LAWSON

Myrtle Pearline Lawson, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at her home. She was 86.

Mrs. Lawson was born in Marble Valley, Ala. She lived in Castor, La., for 21 years and Vicksburg for the past two years. She was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church in Jamestown, La.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Jean Hebert.

Survivors include a son, Garland C. Cook of Vicksburg; and a daughter, Theresa Bernice Mathews of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rocket Funeral Home in Ringold, La., with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Ringold.

Visitation will be from 5 until 10 tonight at the funeral home.

MARION A. TAYLOR

EDWARDS Marion A. Taylor died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 83.

Mr. Taylor, a retired mechanic, was born and reared in Crystal Springs and served for 21 years as a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps. During his years of military service, he was a prisoner of war for seven and a half years. He served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by three nephews, Thomas Sims of Edwards, Adrian Sims of Austin, Ark., and Glen Russell of Picayune; five nieces, Donna Chancey and Jean Allen, both of Vicksburg, Dovie Crawford of Utica, Kristin Sims of Edwards and Nancy Nell Russell of Ridgeland; and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethesda Cemetery in Edwards with the Rev. Sylvia Baylot officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.

Pallbearers will be Richard Beasley, Adrian Sims, Thomas Sims, Terry Leach, Benji Crawford and Patrick Vinzant.
