GEORGE H. WILLIAMS

Services for George H. Williams will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church Chapel with the Revs. Eric Thomas and Harry Piazza Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the service at the church..

Mr. Williams died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 89.

He was born in Belzoni and moved to Vicksburg in 1921. He worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 25 years and retired from Waterways Experiment Station after 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and taught the Boaz Sunday school class.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Odene Williams; his parents, David Henderson Williams and Susan Jane Williams; one sister, Rebecca Biedenharn; and one brother, D.T. Williams.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Ann Cutting of Jackson and Betty Clay of Durant, Okla.; two sons, George H Williams Jr. of Connecticut and Charles Williams of Starkville; four sisters, Hilda White, Frances Williams and Betty Sue Wilkerson, all of Vicksburg, and Nancy Mumper of Jackson; two brothers, James Melvin Williams of Natchez and Herman Williams of New York; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Trey Curtis, Patrick Morrison, Bill Morrison, Cliff Axtel, Clyde McGehee, Carl Terry Hudson and Michael Piazza.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Boaz Sunday school class.

GRACE LEE B. BROWN

EDWARDS Grace Lee Butler Brown died today, Aug. 26, 2002, at her home. She was 84.

Mrs. Butler was a lifelong resident of Edwards. She was a member of St. Mark M. B. Church. She was also a member of the First Baptist Union of Hinds County and the Hinds and Adjoining Counties Christian Institute.

She was preceded in death by a son, Earl Brown Jr.; and four brothers, James Frank Butler, Lafayette Butler, Alcorn Butler and George Lee Butler.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Brown Sr. of Edwards; two sons, Robert Earl Brown, Seattle, Wash., and Alan David Brown of New York, N.Y.; one daughter, Adra Ruth McDermott of Kingston, Jamaica; two sisters, Barbara C. King and Lula Holcumb, both of Gary , Ind.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
