Community pantry opens doors today

About 40 Vicksburg residents listen as deacon Louis Sullivan of King Solomon M.B. Church, center, reads a Bible verse Sunday during the dedication and blessing of The Storehouse Community Food Pantry at the United Way building at 920 South St. The pantry opens today. The pantry offers emergency assistance of food to those in need. The hours are from 10 a.m. to noon Monday and Wednesday and from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Donations can be made to more than 20 local churches and at the United Way building. The next meeting to train volunteers for the pantry will be at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 at the United Way.
