HIRAM BUTLER BOWLIN

Services for Hiram Butler “Bo” Bowlin were this morning at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Mr. Bowlin died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 89.

HE was born in Gloster to Benjamin F. and Rose Pittman Bowlin. He was a graduate of Ford High School and had been employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Revetment Sinking Unit, New Orleans District. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Corps during and after World War II. He retired in 1970 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 45 years of service. He also worked as a tax analyst for H&R Block for five years. He was a Mason and a lifetime member of Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Franklin County.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye W. Bowlin; his son, Richard “Ric” Bowlin of Ridgeland; his daughter, Roselyn “Ros” Middleton of Vicksburg; his grandson, Matthew Middleton; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were Drs. Joe Ross, George Habeeb and Joseph Wilson and office staff, Dr. Abdul Bahro and office staff, River Region Medical Center fifth-floor nursing staff, Marion Metzger, River Region Home Health, Rose Hunt, Doris Heath, Doris Washington, Anna Katherine Cochran, Carolyn Buys, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Polk and Annette Franklin.

Memorials may be made to Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church or Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society.

REBA FAE BROUSSARD

LAFAYETTE, La. Reba Fae Broussard died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at her home. She was 66.

Mrs. Broussard was born in Arcadia La.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelby M. and Ella Cox Pickett; and a grandson, Jared Haire.

Survivors include her husband, Louis A. Broussard of Lafayette; one daughter, Lisa Haire of McKinney, Texas; two sons, Barry Broussard of San Antonio, Texas, and Scott Broussard of Lafayette; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial United Methodist Church in Bastrop with the Revs. Ramon Warren and John Deschner officiating. Burial will be at the Pickett Family Cemetery in Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

TROYCE BENTON DUKES

LAKE PROVIDENCE Troyce Benton Dukes died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at his home. He was 75.

Mr. Dukes was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Lois Sumrall Dukes.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Lee Dukes of Lake Providence; three sons, Johnny Dukes of Springfield Colo., and Lynn Dukes and Mark Dukes, both of Lake Providence; two daughters, Brenda Dukes of Lake Providence and Paula Weems of West Monroe; a sister, Lilla Brackin of Lake Providence; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Northside Church of Christ with V.W. Hayhurst, Tony Lensing and Ricky Parker officiating. Burial will be at Providence Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church until time of service.

Pallbearers will be Tap Parker, Floyd Hutchinson, George Walters, Gary Parker, Bill Hopkins and James Thornton.

Honorary pallbearers will be LaBane Clement and Paul Dukes.

SAMUEL G. ELLIS

Samuel G. Ellis died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at his home. He was 84.

Mr. Ellis was a member of Greater Mount Olive No. 2 Baptist Church and Nebo Masonic Lodge No. 37.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Ellis; a son, Paul Ellis; his parents, George and Celia Ellis; a grandson, Jonathan Ellis; and a brother, J.W. Loving.

He is survived by three sons, Melvin Charles Ellis of Stone Mountain, Ga., Lawrence Ellis of San Antonio and Clifton Ellis of Concord, Calif.; six daughters, Thelma Jean Ellis, Sammie Maxey, Lorraine E. Wilson, Marian Cecile Banks, Corine Ellis and Paulette Ellis, all of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
