SAMUEL G. ELLIS

Services for Samuel G. Ellis will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Travelers Church with the Rev. Douglas Harris officiating. Visitation is today from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Ellis died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at his home. He was 84.

He was a member of Greater Mount Olive No. 2 Baptist Church and Nebo Masonic Lodge No. 37.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Ellis; a son, Paul Ellis; his parents, George and Celia Ellis; a grandson, Jonathan Ellis; and a brother, J.W. Loving.

He is survived by three sons, Melvin Charles Ellis of Stone Mountain, Ga., Lawrence Ellis of San Antonio, Texas and Clifton Ellis of Concord, Calif.; six daughters, Thelma Jean Ellis, Sammie Maxey, Lorraine E. Wilson, Marian Cecile Banks, Corine Ellis and Paulette Ellis, all of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

JOHN W. McKENZIE SR.

John W. McKenzie Sr. died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 68.

Mr. McKenzie, of Vicksburg, was born in Edwards and retired from Vicksburg’s Anderson Tully Company. He was a member of New Zion M.B. Church in Edwards and was a Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rueben McKenzie and Edith Green McKenzie; two sons, George McKenzie and Rueben McKenzie; and one daughter, Elizabeth Collins.

He is survived by his wife, Emma McKenzie of Edwards; one son, John W. McKenzie Jr. of Vicksburg; one daughters, Ann McKenzie of Patterson City and one step-daughter, Theresa Miles of Mansfield, Texas; one brother, A.C. McKenzie of Edwards; six sisters, Gladys Redford, Dorothy Burks and Beatrice Allen, all of Chicago, Ill.; Mozella Flaggs and Daisy Bishop of Edwards; and Virginia Smith of Bogalusa, La.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Sept. 14 at New Zion M.B. Church.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

EVERLEAN WATSON

LORMAN Everlean Watson died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at River Region Medical Center.

Mrs. Watson, 101, was a member and mother of Morningstar M.B. Church in Lorman, a member of the Women’s Auxiliary in Jefferson County and a member of Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Watson Sr.

Survivors include her son Willie Watson Jr.; a number of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held today at Morningstar M.B. Church in Lorman with the Rev. James Dorsey officiating, assisted by the Rev. Larry Clark.

Visitation will be at the church, today from 1 p.m. until time of service.
