UTICA Services for Lottie Clark will be at 11 on Saturday at Rohilia M.B. Church in Utica with the Rev. Clifton Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson. Visitation is today from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, with family hour from 6 until 7; and on Saturday, at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.

Mrs. Clark died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 97.

She was a member and a mother of Rohilia Baptist Church and a Heroine of Jericho, Court No. 320 and a member of the Baptist Aid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Carrie Price; a daughter, Laura Goodman; three sons, Henry Chillis, Dan Clark and Sydney Clark; a sister, Lucy Neal; and four brothers, Isaiah Price, Jasper Price, Dan Price and Jim Price.

She is survived by four sons, Willie T. Clark, Willie A. Clark, Charles Clark and Tommy Clark, all of Vicksburg; a daughter, Mamie Barnes of Utica; 46 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

MELANIE R. LEWIS-PARKER

Melanie R. Lewis-Parker died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 35.

Mrs. Lewis-Parker was a private-duty caregiver. She was a member of Mount Zion M.B. Church at Ballground.

She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Carlos Lewis; two sisters, Gloria Bunch and Sharon Elizabeth Lewis; one brother, Paul Lewis; and her father, Charlie Lewis.

She is survived by her husband, Roosevelt Parker of Vicksburg; one daughter, Monica Rochelle Lewis of Albion, Mich.; her mother, Chestina Lewis of Albion; three brothers including Thomas Christopher Lewis of Pearl and Limbrick Matthew Lewis of Albion; three sisters, Debra Lynn Robinson of Vicksburg, Elena Roby of Albion and Stephanie Andrea Oliver of Twin City, Minn.; one grandson, Jamaris Lewis; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

LEONA B. LARKINS SMITH

Services for Leona B. Larkins “Honey” Smith will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at New Rock of Ages M.B. Church with the Rev. Luther Bonds Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from noon until time of service.

Mrs. Smith died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002. She was 66.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she was a member of New Rock of Ages M.B. Church and Eureka Temple No. 214 Daughter of Elks. She retired as a dispatcher for Veterans Cab Co. after more than 40 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper “Dee” Smith; her mother, Suewilla B. Larkins; and her father, Reuben Johnson.

Survivors include one daughter, Alora Larkins Allen of Seattle; four brothers, Maj. Walter W. Larkins Jr. of Henderson, Nev., Charles H. Larkins of Merino Valley, Calif., Ernest J. Larkins of Vicksburg and Sgt. Maj. Clarence J. Larkins of Puyallup, Wash.; two sisters, Jean M. Gray of Cleveland, Ohio, and Dr. Connie Larkins Williams of Vicksburg; and two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives, including the Jones and Chisley families of Vicksburg and the Burnham and Gilmore families of California.

JUANITA G. THOMPSON

Services Juanita G. “Honey” Thompson will be at noon Monday at Rock of Ages M.B. Church with the Rev. Anthony Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 83.

A homemaker, Mrs. Thompson was a member and former adult choir member at Rock of Ages M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Thompson; her parents, Henry Sr. and Sarah Campbell Garland; a sister, Amelia Flowers; and four brothers, Albert Garland, Henry Garland Jr., Adolph Garland and Jule Garland.

Survivors include Manuel Bland Sr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Floriece Chambers and Freddie Jean Thompson, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Thomas A. Garland of Metcina, Calif., and Percy Garland of Detroit; two sisters, Lucille Williams of Baton Rouge and Maggie Hooper of Detroit; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including members of the Bland family of Vicksburg.

AZALENE PRICE

Services for Azalene “Nap” Price will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mount Carmel M.B. Church with the Rev. Franklin Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Church Cemetery in Utica.

Mrs. Price died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.

A homemaker, Mrs. Price was a member and on the mother board at Mount Carmel M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Price Sr.; her parents, Allen and Alice Neal; four brothers, Curley Neal, Ellis Neal, John L. Neal and Columbus “Jack” Neal Sr.; a sister, Lexie Walker; and two sons, Eugene Price and Bobby Price.

She is survived by four sons, James Lucas Price, Charles Price and Eddie Ray Price, all of Vicksburg, and Johnnie Lee Price of Chicago; three daughters, Mary Lewis and Azalene Price, both of Chicago, and Brenda Price Taylor of New Orleans; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

MARY FRANCES VYVIAL

LAKE PROVIDENCE Mary Frances Vyvial died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2002, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove. She was 70.

Mrs. Vyvial was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Alvin Vyvial and her parents, Cleadious Allen and Mary Este Pearson Gulley.

She is survived by two sons, Tommy Vyvial of Delta and Michael Vyvial of Baton Rouge; three daughters, Debbie Munn of Oak Grove, Mary Medders of Watauga, Texas, and Melissa Brown of Denham Springs, La.; two brothers, Mark Gulley of West Monroe and Paul Douglas Gulley of Dixon, Tenn.; two sisters, Ruth Ann Langston of Lake Providence and Pauline Goodson of West Monroe; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cox Chapel-Lake Providence with the Rev. Joseph Zacharius and the Rev. Joe Martina officiating

Burial will be at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Lake Providence.

Pallbearers will be Toney Maza, Chuck Brown, Randy Price, Cheynne Gulley, James Hahn and Johnny Burger.
