Snickers, a golden retriever, chow and Labrador mix, looks out over a 48-star American flag hanging over the second story balcony of the Anchuca mansion at 1010 First East St. Snickers’ owner, Tom Pharr, said the pup was a neighborhood stray until visiting Anchuca last year. “I saw him smile and couldn’t bear to drop him off at the humane society,” Pharr said. He said guests at the bed and breakfast love him and he even gets fan mail from former guests. Pharr said, “It just goes to show, with a smile on your face and good disposition you can go from being homeless to sleeping in four-poster canopy beds, eating gourmet meals, and swimming everyday…He definitely has the run of the place.” (The Vicksburg Post/C.
