ROLLING FORK Callie Lillie Carter died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 82.

Mrs. Carter is survived by six sons, Ricky Carter and Albert Carter, both of Anaheim, Calif., Wallace Myles and Clearance Carter, both of Rolling Fork, James Myles of Tracy, Calif., and Edward Myles of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three daughters, Rosetta Foster and Gloria Carter, both of Rolling Fork, and Rosa Jones of Hawthorne, Calif.; one brother, Richard Austin of Carson, Calif.; one sister, Birdia Moore of Anaheim; and 43 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Church of Christ on Highway 61 in Rolling Fork with Willie White officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Church of God Cemetery in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be from 5 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home and following burial Sunday at Church of Christ fellowship hall.

CAREY DEAN MAXWELL

OAK GROVE Carey Dean Maxwell died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport. He was 50.

A native of Delhi, Mr. Maxwell lived in Oak Grove and was a lifelong resident of West Carroll Parish. He was a member of Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and choir member. He was a member of the Mean Green Pulling Team.

He was manager and ginner at the Morehouse Gin in Mer Rouge, La.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Maxwell of Oak Grove; a son, Joshua Dean Maxwell of Oak Grove; a daughter, Aubrey Skye Maxwell of Oak Grove; his mother, Rose Lee Maxwell of Oak Grove; his father, Willis Howard Maxwell of Oak Grove; two brothers, Willis Keith Maxwell and Roger Lee Maxwell, both of Oak Grove; one sister, Rhonda Densmore of Oak Grove; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hill Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Rev. Leslie Yates officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the church until the service.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Russell, Bobby Kovac, Lindy Lingo, Gerald Russell, David Hill and Don Murray.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Hill Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

ANTHONY NEAL

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. Anthony “Ricky” Neal died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn. He was 46.

Mr. Neal was born in Valley Park.

He is survived by his son, Eric Funches of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters; his mother, Betty Scott of Chicago; four sisters, Arba Rhodes of Chicago, Dorothy Pempton of Minneapolis and Georgia Grayson and Julie Dailey, both of Calumet City, Ill.; two stepsisters, Matte Wood of Chicago and Eriazee Rodgers of Yazoo City; two brothers, George Neal of Dolton, Ill., and Arthur Neal of Yazoo City; seven stepbrothers, Leon Bullock, James Bullock, Cleotha Bullock, Jesse Blackmon and Odess Blackmon, all of Chicago, John Jones of Vicksburg and Lemira Scott of Redwood; one grandchild; and other relatives.

JESSIE R. STAGGS

Jessie R. Staggs died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. He was 78.

Mr. Staggs was a native of Hazel, Ark., and had lived in Vicksburg most of his life. He retired from LeTourneau as a welder.

He is survived by Katherine Sutton of Vicksburg; two sons, Dale Staggs of Florence and James Staggs of Clifton Forge, Va.; two daughters, Carolyn LaComb and Alene Sanders, both of Edwards; two brothers, Chuck Staggs of Texarkana, Ark., and Doug Staggs of Chedster, Ark.; two sisters, Alene Ashley and Annie Hart, both of Texarkana; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steve Hart, Mark Hart, Windell Sullivan, Ronnie Staggs, Kenny Staggs Jr. and Kenneth Staggs Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Beau Brewer, Greg McDowell and Dennis McDowell.

MARY OUSLEY WASHINGTON

ROLLING FORK Mary Ousley Washington died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 52.

Mrs. Washington is survived by two sons, Rodney O’Neal Ousley and Kevin Washington, both of Memphis; two daughters, Lisa Collins of Nashville and Karen Washington of Rolling Fork; four brothers, Willie Ousley of Rolling Fork, Larry Ousley of Vicksburg, James Ousley of Atlanta and Armour Ousley of Saginaw, Mich.; three sisters, Christine Ousley and Judy Ousley, both of Rolling Fork, and Luella Swanigan of Chicago; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Ollie M.B. Church in Egremont with Pastor Willie Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at Danover Cemetery in Egremont.
