[09/20/02]The Vicksburg Warren School district has approved a site to build the new Vicksburg High School band hall.

Mike Jones, an architect with Johnson, Henderson, Bailey, McNeel, P.A., an architect firm based out of Tupelo said the best site would be where the old tennis courts now sit, on the south end of the Drummond Street side of the campus.

“The campus is fairly restricted,” Jones said. “The site is away from the school and in close proximity to the band hall.”

The trustees approved the site and approved to begin the bid process on constructing the band hall.

Jones estimated the 14,800-square-foot band hall that is expected to hold 250 to 275 students will cost $1.5 million.

He said the band hall is expected to take about a year to complete.
