NATHANIEL ANTHONY

WOODVILLE Nathaniel “Pee-wee” Anthony died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville. He was 42.

Mr. Anthony was born in Wilkinson County and was a former corrections officer at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola. He received a mechanic’s degree at Southwest Mississippi Junior College in Summit.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norris Anthony Sr.; his paternal grandparents, James L. Anthony and Viola Montgomery Anthony; and his maternal grandparents, Oliver and Viola Stevens Conrad.

Survivors include his mother, Bessie Mae Conrad Anthony; a son, Terrance Lekeith Stanwood of Woodville; one daughter, Ariel Chapman of Woodville; three brothers, Theodore Howard Anthony and Michael Shay Anthony, both of Woodville, and Norris Anthony Jr. of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Viola E. Dennis, Debra R. Robinson and Marilyn T. Maiden, all of Woodville; his stepgrandmother, Martha Anthony of Pine Bluff, Ark.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday at King Emanuel Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Earnest James officiating. Burial will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Woodville.

Visitation will be from noon until 5 p.m. Friday at Rollins Chapel in Fayette and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Edward Anthony Jr., Fidal Anthony, Juan Anthony, George Anthony, Cordell Conrad, Samuel Conrad, Clarence Dorsey, Willie Prater, Jessie Veal and Robert Veal.

Honorary pallbearers will be Theodore Anthony Sr., Norris Anthony Jr., Michael Anthony, Richard Hollins, Eddie Dennis, Bernard Robinson Sr., Matthew Maiden III and John Selvage.

NELL C. BUCHANAN

BRANDON Nell C. Buchanan died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Methodist Rehabilitation Center. She was 69.

Mrs. Buchanan was a native of Mount Olive and a resident of Brandon. She was a member of World of Life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. “Buck” Buchanan, and her parents, Dewey and Vida Cook of Raleigh.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Simmons of Vicksburg and Patsy Watson of Brandon; a brother, Charles Cook of Clinton; and four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Baldwin-Lee Chapel in Jackson. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

HELEN JONES GARDNER

Helen Jones Gardner died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove. She was 59.

Mrs. Gardner was an Oak Grove native.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B.D. Gardner; a grandson, David Keith Goulette Jr.; her father, Starling Clifton Jones; her mother, Ruthie Elizabeth Rushing Jones; and two sisters, Lucille Stampley and Bonnie Lewis.

She is survived by a son, Charles Gardner of Oak Grove; six daughters, Lisa Cosby of Louisville, Ky., Cathy Goulette of Transylvania, La., and Pam Comeaux, Patricia Gardner, Norma Gardner and Evelyn Clark, all of Oak Grove; a brother, William Andrew Jones of Center, Texas; a sister, Lillie Nobles of Rayville, La.; and 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. James Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery.

GRACE HAMPTON

Grace Hampton died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 72.

Mrs. Hampton was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Gibson, where she was on the Mother Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luster Hampton, and her parents, Steven and Rose Bland Coleman.

She is survived by two sisters, Emma Lee Traylor of Louisville, Ky., and Rosie Lee Beasley of Jackson; nieces, including Ruth Miller of Carlisle and Joyce Coleman of Port Gibson; nephews, including Steve Coleman of Port Gibson and Johnny Coleman of Carlisle; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. James Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Port Gibson and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

IRMA ROUFF LANGSTON

Irma Rouff Langston died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.

Mrs. Langston was born in Moss Point and had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 60 years. She was a graduate of Vicksburg Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as a registered nurse from Vicksburg Hospital. She was of the Methodist faith.

Mrs. Langston was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Langston.

Survivors include two nephews, Stephen Rouff and George Rouff, both of Yuma, Ariz.; a niece, Cecil McDermott of Moss Point; and friends, Bobby and Elease Doyle of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
