TOMMY A. BOYD

Tommy A. Boyd died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 61.

Mr. Boyd was born in Vicksburg and graduated from Jett High School. He was a former employee of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Vicksburg and later worked for Cooper Lighting Corp. of Vicksburg.

A member of Bowmar Baptist Church, he served as assistant Cub Scoutmaster and assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 76 and was active in Little League baseball.

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his father, Joe Orie Boyd, and his mother, Alma Lee Elmore.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Marler Boyd of Vicksburg; two sons, Joseph Monroe Boyd of Delta, La., and Martin Thomas Boyd of Vicksburg; a daughter, Annie Louise Wigley of Vicksburg; a sister, Mary Jo Jones of Fitler; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Monday with the Revs. Terry White and Frank Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213, or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 1640 Lelia Drive, Suite 130, Jackson, MS 39216.

Pallbearers will be Bill Smith, Milton Butler, Henry Wamble, Randal Jordan, Gerald Bland, Bill Brown, Walter Kinnebrew and Roger Fillebaum. Honorary pallbearers will be M.C. Dulaney, Kenny Brown, Jerry Uzzle, Richard Smith, Drs. Randy Easterling, Shawn Panzer, Mack Furr and Steven Zachow, employees of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co., employees of Cooper Lighting and members of Buzzard Lake and Serrangeth hunting clubs.

JOSIE F. MORRIS

Josie F. Morris died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 89.

Mrs. Morris was born in Winnsboro. La., and lived in Vicksburg most of her life. She attended Jefferson Davis Academy in Yokena. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Morris Sr.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Morris of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Frances Parker of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow at Yokena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be William Ray Parker, Jonathan Webber, Franklin Wright, Joe Loviza, Bill Mobley Sr., Martin Pace, Charles Webber and J.W. Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Sherard, Garvin Sherard, Lamar McMillin, Donald Brooks and Gillis McMahon.

JACKIE B. WILLIAMS

Jackie B. Williams died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in Whitehaven Living Center in Memphis. She was 100.

Mrs. Williams was born in Yazoo City and lived in Vicksburg for 50 years. She was a retired domestic worker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Williams.

Survivors include a brother, Fred D. White of Detroit.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at M.J. Edwards Funeral Home in Memphis. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg Tuesday.
