Flashes take third place at competitive North Half meet

[10/28/02]St. Aloysius’ boys swim team finished third only to state-powers Tupelo and Cleveland at the North Half Swimming Championships at Delta State on Saturday.

Warren Central placed ninth and Vicksburg 13th in the boys meet, while WC took 11th, St. Al 12th and Vicksburg 16th in the girls meet.

Senior Alan Ebersole took first in the 500-meter freestyle and second in the 200 freestyle to lead the Flashes. Bern Ebersole placed second in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 200 individual medley.

Will Tomlinson, also of St. Al, placed second in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, and Allen Karel took second in the 100 backstroke as the Flashes racked up 258 points. Cleveland ended with 388 and Tupelo 316. Warren Central ended with 107 points and VHS’ 38.

WC’s Patrick Chauss finished fifth in the 200 freestyler.

Lady Vikes’ Elena English took sixth in the 100 freestyle, while St. Al’s Bonney Neill took fifth in the 100 breaststroke in the girls meet.

Tupelo won the girls meet with 362 points. WC had 82 points, while St. Al had 80 and Vicksburg 20.
