JOSEPH T. BINGHAM SR.
Joseph T. Bingham Sr. died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 84.
A resident of Vicksburg and a retired general contractor, Mr. Bingham was a member of Paragon Lodge No. 7 F&AM, Tyner Ford Post No. 213 American Legion, Masons Ministers Allowance and a former pastor of Bingham Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge R. Bingham Sr. and Julia Edmond Bingham; three brothers, Lemuel Bingham, Judge Robert Bingham Jr. and Jeremiah Bingham; and three sisters, Alma Robinson, Frances O. Bingham and Harriet Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys G. Bingham of Vicksburg; a son, Joseph T. Bingham Jr. of Vicksburg; a daughter, JoAnna Jones of Bridgewood, Va.; three brothers, George W. Bingham Sr. of Grenada, Haskell S. Bingham of Petersburg, Va., and Louis C. Bingham of Como, Miss.; three sisters, Priscilla Bingham Spencer and Roberta B. Kennedy, both of Vicksburg, and Julia B. Thomas of Greenville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
JASON CHARLES FARRELL
MONROE Jason Charles Farrell died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at his home in Monroe. He was 35.
Born in New York City, Mr. Farrell was graduate of Chamberlain-Hunt Academy in Port Gibson. He graduated cum laude in prelaw from Mississippi College. He was a former employee of Pritchard & Pritchard Law Firm in Jackson and served four years as a medical corpsman in the Naval Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dudley Sanford Farrell, and his stepfather, Dr. H.F.M. “Flood” Garrett.
Survivors include his mother, Sandra Garrett of Bastrop, La.; a daughter, Tiffany Ashtyn Farrell of Monroe; a brother, Matt Garrett of Granby, Conn.; a sister, Beth Garrett Nesheim of Manassas, Va.; and other relatives and friends, including Robin Vanderford and Shelley Magee, both of Monroe.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church in Bastrop with the Rev. Herman Ogea officiating. Burial will follow at Wilmot Cemetery in Wilmot, Ark.
Visitation will be from 5:30 until 8 tonight at the church.
Pallbearers will be James Perry, Joey Trichell, Austin Magee, Travis Boney, Phil Hollis and Shane Trichell.

BETTY JANE HALLBERG
Services for Betty Jane Hallberg were at 10 a.m. today at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eric Thomas, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Hallberg died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at her home. She was 61.
A native of New Orleans, Mrs. Hallberg had lived in Vicksburg since 1962.
She attended Mississippi College, was named Miss Mississippi in 1959 and remained active in all phases of the pageant. She owned and operated Sumthin’ Diff’rent Florist for a number of years.
Mrs. Hallberg was a member of the Vicksburg Theatre Guild and Green Hills Garden Club and was past president of the Vicksburg Council of Garden Clubs. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Phifer and Myrtis Brewer Porter.
She is survived by her husband, W.F. “Buddy” Hallberg of Vicksburg; two sons, W.F. “Bill” Hallberg III of Vicksburg and Miles Hallberg of Spartanburg, S.C.; one sister, Mary Lynn Lynch of Vicksburg; and two grandchildren, Brenna Leigh Hallberg and David Wesley Hallberg.
Pallbearers were Walter Hallberg IV, Eric Hallberg, Chris Ross, Joel Lynch, Allen Atwood and Arthur Casey.
Honorary pallbearers were John DeCell, Ken Parks, Robert McConnell, Dr. Paul Ballard, Steven Butler IV, Charles Watkins and Lynn Casey.
Memorials may be made to charities of choice.
BETTY L. LANDERS
Betty L. Landers died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Richardson Medical Center in Rayville, La. She was 65.
Born in Shreveport, La., Mrs. Landers lived in Vicksburg for 48 years and was a former school bus driver for the Vicksburg Warren school district and a member of Utica Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey E. Landers Sr. of Utica; a son, Harvey “Butch” Landers Jr. of Vicksburg; a daughter, Becky Rouse of Vicksburg; a brother, Roy G. Beck of Alexandria, La.; a sister, Carol Ann Pritchard of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Spence officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Landers, Roy Landers, Sammie Landers, Greg Landers, Kelly Landers, Kenny Landers, Billy Landers and Charlie Jordan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Parker and members of the Deer Park Hunting Club and the Shiloh Hunting Club.
