BENJAMIN MAGRUDER DISHAROON

PORT GIBSON Benjamin Magruder Disharoon died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at his home. He was 75.

A lifelong resident of Claiborne County, Mr. Disharoon was a retired farmer, social worker and artist. He was a graduate of Port Gibson High School, Louisiana State University and the University of Tennessee and served in the Navy during World War II. He was the director of Claiborne County Department of Public Welfare and the regional supervisor of the Department of Public Welfare.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Clay Disharoon; four daughters, Mary Martha Kline, Nancy Loome, Beth McDowell and Jill Geertsema; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Rie Barland.

Services will be at 2 today in the Parish House at St. James Episcopal Church in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service at the church.

BETTY JANE HALLBERG

Betty Jane Hallberg died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at her home. She was 61.

A native of New Orleans, Mrs. Hallberg had lived in Vicksburg since 1962. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Phifer and Myrtis Brewer Porter and attended Mississippi College.

She was named Miss Mississippi in 1959 and remained active in all phases of the pageant. She owned and operated Sumthin Different Florist for a number of years.

Mrs. Hallberg was a member of the Vicksburg Theatre Guild and Green Hills Garden Club, and was past president of the Vicksburg Council of Garden Clubs. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, W.F. “Buddy” Hallberg of Vicksburg; two sons, W.F. “Bill” Hallberg III of Vicksburg and Houston Miles Hallberg of Spartanburg, S.C.; a sister, Mary Lynn Lynch of Vicksburg; and two grandchildren, Brenna Leigh Hallberg and David Wesley Hallberg.

Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

WALTER L. REYNOLDS

Services for Walter L. Reynolds will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Thomas McGing officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. with rosary at 4:30 Sunday at Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Hosemann Jr., Shannon Hosemann, Sean Brennan Jr., Ben Jefer, Mel Breden and Tom Balmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be San Lusco, Joe Gerache, Charles Kette, A.L. Sullivan, Homer Greer, Louis Theobald, Jimmy Waring, Ed Cox and Carl Cappaert.

Mr. Reynolds died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.

A resident of Vicksburg, he was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Force for three and a half years and worked for the Corps of Engineers, Waterways Experiment Station, for 37 years. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Martha Reynolds; and a sister, Mary B. Briggs.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Piazza Reynolds; two daughters, Val R. Hosemann and Robin R. Brennan, both of Houston, Texas; a sister, Alma R. Jeter of Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and other relatives.

Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Catholic school in Vicksburg.

ROBERT WILLIAMS WATFORD

HOLLANDALE Robert Williams Watford died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 70.

Mr. Watford was born in Dothan, Ala., where he attended public schools. He moved to Hollandale with his family in 1941. He served four years in the Army, then returned to Hollandale where he was employed with the U.S. Corps of Engineers for 28 years. After retirement, he worked as a security guard with Delta Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Watford was a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Leland.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Louise Woods Watford of Hollandale; a daughter, Lisa Dianne W. Peeples of Yazoo City; a son, William Rob Watford of Vicksburg; two sister, Dale W. Reynolds of Jackson and Fran W. Woods of Greenville; one brother, Lloyd Watford Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; and five grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Boone Chapel in Hollandale. Burial will follow at Hollandale Cemetery.
