McMURCHY JR.

Walter Preston McMurchy Jr. died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 80.

Mr. McMurchy was a retired civil engineer technician for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he served for 39 years, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

A resident of Vicksburg for the past 26 years, he was born in Duncan and lived a number of years in Greenwood and Lake Providence, where he was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, where he was a member of the Through the Bible in One Year Sunday school class.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter P. McMurchy Sr. and Josephine Manning McMurchy; and a son, Walter Preston McMurchy III.

He is survived by his wife, Doris N. McMurchy of Vicksburg; and one daughter, Nancy McMurchy Triplett of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tony Sargraves, Gary Barnett, Mike Beauman, Kendrick Williams, James Triplett, Charlie Stevens, Duane Staggs, Barry Beard, Larry Lewis and Trey Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Murray Whitaker, John Strange, Dr. Tom Sligh, Joe Cupstid and Johnny Bowen.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. Monday until the service.

JOE NERVIS SR.

Joe Nervis Sr. died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at his home in Warren County. He was 76.

Mr. Nervis was retired from W.J. Runyon Construction Company. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a deacon of New Zion M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Nervis Sr. and Cynthia Fields; his wife, Irene Tolliver Nervis; one brother, Frank Nervis Jr.; two sons, Frank Nervis and David Nervis; and one daughter, Clara N. Thornton.

He is survived by four sons, Joe Nervis Jr. of Aurora, Ill., Louis Nervis of Houston, Texas, Mose Nervis of Huntsville, Ala., and Julius Nervis of Vicksburg; four daughters, Rosie Valentine of Hartsville, Texas, Cynthia N. Patterson of Kenner, La., and Catherine N. Bolden and Winnie Lee Mays, both of Vicksburg; one sister, Willie Mae Moore of Rolling Fork; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

WALTER L. REYNOLDS

Services for Walter L. Reynolds will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas McGing officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 5 today with Rosary at 4:30 at Fisher Funeral Home.

Mr. Reynolds died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.

A resident of Vicksburg, he was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Force for three and a half years and worked for the Corps of Engineers, Waterways Experiment Station, for 37 years. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Valda Reynolds; and a sister, Mary B. Briggs.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Piazza Reynolds; two daughters, Val R. Hosemann and Robin R. Brennan, both of Houston, Texas; a sister, Alma R. Jeter of Memphis; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Hosemann Jr., Shannon Hosemann, Sean Brennan Jr., Ben Jeter, Mel Breden and Tom Balmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Lusco, Joe Gerache, Charles Kette, A.L. Sullivan, Homer Greer, Louis Theobald, Jimmy Waring, Ed Cox and Carl Cappaert.
