Nelson Criswell, left, and Maurice Robinson of Live Oak Landscapes are framed by porch railings Thursday as they work to plant Dwarf Spirea in the sidewalk beds along Clay Street as part of the city’s beautification efforts. Criswell said the Dwarf Spirea and the crepe myrtles in the center of each bed should bloom about the same time. Criswell said that workers from the company will spend about five more days excavating and planting the beds lining the south side of Clay Street. Criswell said there are about 100 beds running from Mission 66 to Cherry Street. (The Vicksburg Post/C. Todd Sherman)
