Pigeons bathe in the water flowing from the Bloom Fountain at Crawford and Monroe streets. The fountain, donated by Vicksburg resident Louis Bloom in 1927, is a 5-foot-tall statue of the Greek goddess Hebe. The goddess represents the cupbearer to the gods in Greek mythology. The statue, a favorite resting spot for downtown birds, is cast in bronze, and the basin and the pedestal are made of granite. (The Vicksburg Post/Melanie Duncan)
