OAK GROVE Julia May Cotton died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, La. She was 85.

Mrs. Cotton born in Winnfield, La., and was an Oak Grove resident.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie James Cotton; and her parents, Willie Christian Davis and Rebecca Green Davis.

She is survived by a son, Charles Eugene Cotton of Oak Grove; two daughters, Opal Armfield of Bastrop and Dolly Allred of Oak Grove; and a grandson, Robbie Davis of Joplin, Mo.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Otha Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery in Kilbourne, La.

HUEY P. DEDMON SR.

Huey P. Dedmon Sr. died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 71.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Dedmon was a retired refrigerator serviceman, a member of Bowmar Baptist Church and an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Faye Dedmon; and a son, Tony Dedmon.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Pearson of Valley Park and Huey P. Dedmon Jr. of Grenada; a daughter, Joyce Blackledge of Phoenix, Miss.; four brothers, Ray Dedmon of Jackson, Charles Dedmon of Pearl, Joe Dedmon of Florence and Allen Dedmon of Lebanon, Ohio; two sisters, Gracie Lee McPherson of Learned and Jerry Bishop of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Huey P. Dedmon Jr. officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Phoenix.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Keith Alexander, Kelly Alexander, James Hicks, Carroll Potter, John Sullivan and Todd Kennedy.

FRANK J. FISHER

Frank J. “Uncle Frank” Fisher died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 81.

Mr. Fisher retired as a fuelman from W.J. Runyon & Son Construction. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church, Fidelity Lodge No. 507 Elks and Paragon Lodge No. 7 F&AM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Memsey Fisher Sr. and Maggie Winston Fisher; three brothers, C.J. Fisher, Horace Fisher and Jim Fisher; and a sister, Maggie Lee Otis.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Bishop Fisher of Vicksburg; a son, Sgt. Gregory Cooper of Fort Knox, Ky.; a brother, Memsey Fisher Jr. of Vicksburg; a sister, Mabel Peterson of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Juton “Tiny” Miller of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

STEPHEN HORTAIRE GUENARD

LAKE PROVIDENCE Stephen Hortaire Guenard died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was 84.

Mr. Guenard was a lifelong resident of Lake Providence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sidney Guenard and Olive Guenard, and a brother, Sidney Chaffe Guenard.

He is survived by his wife, Flournoy Voelker Guenard of Lake Providence; a son, Stephen Voelker Guenard of Park City, Utah; a daughter, Elizabeth Flournoy Gull of Aspen, Colo.; a brother, Arthur Imbrie Guenard of Roland, Ark.; and four grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Church in Lake Providence with the Rev. Bill Echols officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Providence City Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the service in Harris Hall at the church.

CLYDE RALEY

EPPS, La. Clyde Raley died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Willis-Knighton North Medical Center in Shreveport, La. He was 89.

Born in Colfax, La., Mr. Raley was a resident of Epps, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Julia Stephens Raley; a son, Larry Wayne Raley; two sisters, Verna Mae Raley and Ruby Calcote; and five brothers, Houston Raley, Garnet Raley, Owen Raley, Earl Raley and Aton “Buck” Raley.

Survivors include his wife, Lennie McCoy Raley of Epps; two sons, Jimmy Raley of Natchez and Ronnie Raley of Vidalia, La.; and three grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Revs. Pat Loftin and Lee Piercy officiating. Burial followed at Epps Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Glen McCandlish, Kenny McCandlish, Bobby Cleveland, Frank White, Jerry Jay Simms and Michael Hall.

Honorary pallbearers were Virgil Johnson and Brett Raley.
