DAMION DOMINIC ALLEN
Damion Dominic Allen died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Hospice in his Hand in Madden. He was 19.
Mr. Allen was a resident of Indianola.
Survivors include his father, Richard Allen of Mayersville; his mother, Mary Francis-Buctler of Indianola; three sisters, Brittiny Barnes and Shandricka Barnes, both of Mayersville, and Robin Allen of Glen Allan.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Mount Beulah M.B. Church with the Rev. Obidiah Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Garden Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
WALTER SWEDE’ CARLSON
Walter Edward “Swede” Carlson died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at River Region Medical Center West Campus. He was 96.
Mr. Carlson was born in Stillwater, Minn., the son of Edward J. and Christine Carlson. He attended the University of Minnesota and was a longtime resident of Vicksburg where he retired after 33 years of federal service as an engineering technician in the Design Branch of the Mississippi River Commission and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Navy chief warrant officer in the Aleutians and in Okinawa, and was in the Naval Reserve before and after the war. He was an avid fisherman and bicyclist and member of the YMCA men’s volleyball team that competed as far away as California after winning championships here. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, C. Philip Carlson, and a sister, Agnes H. Carlson.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Louise Fant Carlson; a daughter, Carolyn Buford of Vicksburg; a son, Clyde E. Carlson of New Orleans; and five grandchildren, Melissa Buford Dixon, Gerald Buford, Emma Carlson, Harry Carlson and George Carlson.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Raworth Chapel of First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Bryant, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be in Ward Hall of the church from 2 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Hardy Warren, Eugene Hall, Gerald Buford, Grady Dixon, Cason Schaffer and Fred Peyton.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men’s Sunday School Class, Lee Forrest, Jack Blanchard, Don Miller and Bobby Amborn.

MILTON J. HARPER JR.
Milton J. “Jack” Harper Jr. died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Emerald Coast Healthcare Center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He was 85.
Mr. Harper was born in Vicksburg to M.J. Harper Sr. and Frances Smith Harper. He graduated from Mississippi State University and worked as a civil engineer. He joined the Navy, retiring in 1973 as a captain after serving in World War II and the Vietnam War.
He worked in water/waste management in various places in Mississippi and Florida, including as a manager and then consultant for South Walton Utility Co. He was a longtime member of Sandestin Lions Club, serving as district governor for the state of Florida. He was a member of the Masonic Order, Chamber of Commerce and other civic organizations.
Mr. Harper was a member of the Community Church of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., where he served on the Board of Deacons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Mary Regina Prothero Harper.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel O’Neal Harper of Destin, Fla.; a daughter, Treeby Flammger of Tallahassee, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Kathy Colcord of Destin; a stepson, Michael O’Neal of Altanta; a sister, Mary Frances Harper of Evanston, Ill.; a brother, John S. Harper of Evanston; one granddaughter; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Don Ulrich officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Church of Santa Rosa Beach with the Revs. Robert Hendricks and Don Ulrich officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Community Church of Santa Rosa Beach Building Fund; the Lions Club for the Blind of Lake Wales, Fla.; or to a favorite charity.
DONNA SUE JOHNSTON
TRANSYLVANIA, La. Donna Sue Johnston died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe, La. She was 55.
Mrs. Johnston was a resident of Transylvania, La.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ira Neighbors Sr. and Gladys Olene Neighbors.
Survivors include her husband, William Francis Johnston of Transylvania; three daughters, Deborah Sue Johnston and Frances Denise Johnston Fortenberry, both of Lake Providence, and Leigh Anne Johnston MacDonald of Pascagoula; two brothers, Jimmy Neighbors of Lake Providence and Edward Alan Neighbors of West Monroe; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Melbourne Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Carter and Ken Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Lake Providence.
Visitation will be until the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Tim Winstead, Paul Johnston, Calvin Johnston, Mike Foster, Ken Goulette and Jamie Webb.
WILLIAM JOE WADE SR.
PEARL William Joe Wade Sr. died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 74.
A resident of Pearl, Mr. Wade was employed by the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and was a member of McLaurin Heights United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Mary Ella Norman Wade.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Reid Wade of Pearl; a son, William Joe Wade Jr. of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Becky Blalack of Brandon and Beth Harbin of Vicksburg; two stepsons, Scot Reid of Columbus, Ohio, and Tommy Reid of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Wilhemenia Cook of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at McLaurin Heights United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bill Poole and Joe Wade Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl under the direction of Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service at the church.
