ELIZA MINOR THOMPSON
EDWARDS Eliza Minor Thompson died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 60.
Mrs. Thompson was born to the late Walter and Alice Minor of Bovina. She attended Brookhaven Baptist Church in Flowers, where she was a choir member. She later joined St. Mark M.B. Church in Edwards.
She attended Bovina Elementary and Temple High School in Vicksburg, where she was a member of the marching band.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Minor Jr., and three sisters, Mildred Daniel, Ruby Smith and Mary Armstrong.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Thompson; three daughters, Charlene Thompson and Shirley Thompson, both of Edwards, and Patricia Nelson of Byram; two sons, Gregory Thompson of Jackson and Michael Thompson of Edwards; three sisters, Florence Hill of Jackson, Ada Minor of Richmond, Calif., and Catherine Hunter of Bellwood, Ill.; three brothers, Ellis Harris of Oakland, Calif., Herman Minor of Maywood, Ill., and Horace Minor of Chicago; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Edwards.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
LIZZIE MAE MARK THOMPSON
TYLERTOWN Lizzie Mae Mark Thompson died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Walthall General Hospital in Tylertown. She was 90.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Tylertown to the late Corene and Albert Mark.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thompson Sr.; a son, Robert Thompson Jr.; two daughters, Mary Alice Thompson and Bobbie T. Gamble; two sisters, Lucille M. Harry and Ozzie M. Allen; and four brothers, Andrew Mark, Eddie Mark, Henry Mark and Thedrow Mark.
She is survived by two daughters, Rozallar T. Lewis and Cloteal T. Hargrove, both of Sandy Hook; a son, Clarence Thompson of Vicksburg; three sisters, Evelyn Love of Detroit, Emma Hatcher of Dallas and Annie Charvannes of Bronx, N.Y.; one brother, Herman Mark of Bronx; 23 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Mount Bethel M.B. Church in Sandy Hook with the Rev. Hivey Carson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Richmond-Washington Funeral Home in Tylertown.
Pallbearers will be Kelcey Buckhaulter, Brenton Abram, Reginald Thompson, Rodney Thompson, Billy Ray Gamble, Michael Thompson, Nakia Hargrove and Leo Pittman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Mark, Benton Mark, Robert Gamble and the Rev. C.B. Bias.
ALICE LOUISE GUINEY VEAZEY
A Mass of the Resurrection will be said for Alice Louise Guiney Veazey at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas McGing officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home with Rosary at 6.
Pallbearers will be Larry Rabalais, Charlie Amborn, Sam Lusco, David Gibson, Sid Tucker, George Roesch and Joe Gerache.
Mrs. Veazey died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at River Region West. She was 84.
A native of Meridian, Mrs. Veazey lived in Vicksburg in her young life and returned to the city in 1974. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy and worked at Mercy Hospital, Vicksburg Medical Center and Biedenharn Candy Company.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor S. Veazey; her parents, Charles P. and Estelle Hassengratz Guiney; and two brothers, Charles Guiney Jr. and Edward Guiney.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles “Buddy” and Susan E. Veazey of New Mexico; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
ROSIE MAE WATKINS
Services for Rosie Mae Watkins will be at noon Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Will Moffett officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Watkins died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 96.
A homemaker, Mrs. Watkins was a member of Hickory Tree M.B. Church in Bovina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Watkins Sr.; two sons, Harry Watkins Jr. and Joe “Baby Joe” Watkins; two brothers, Ernest Davenport and Vernon Davenport; a sister, Lydia Smothers; and her parents, Louis Davenport and Josephine Williams Davenport.
Survivors include one sister, Ida Bell Cross of Edwards; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, including Emma Beecham of Sacramento, Calif., James Cross of Compton, Calif.; Dr. Rosetta C. Gladney of Jackson; Lorene C. Tolliver and Ellis Cross, both of Edwards; and members of the Smothers family of Vicksburg.
