ONA MAE AINSWORTH
LAKE PROVIDENCE Ona Mae Ainsworth died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Riverside Nursing Home in Monroe, La. She was 87.
Mrs. Ainsworth lived in Lake Providence and was born in Silon, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Ainsworth; and her parents, Oscar and Elizabeth Laird.
She is survived by two sons, Leon Ainsworth of Bastrop, La., and the Rev. J.D. Favors of Oak Grove; two daughters, Margaret Herrington of Lake Providence and Leona Upton of Monroe; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Providence Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. James Parker officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
CHRISTINE HOWARD
PORT GIBSON Christine Howard died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 56.
Mrs. Howard attended Claiborne County Schools and Alcorn State University, where she received bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She taught in Claiborne County Schools for 25 years and did extended studies at the University of Southern Mississippi.
She was a member and mother of Second Baptist Church and a member of Zeta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the Claiborne County Baptist Association Women’s Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Josephine Howard; three brothers, William Howard, James Howard and Freddie Lee Howard; and two sisters, Josie Lee Barber and Ruthie Mae Kelly.
She is survived by two daughters, Fellecchia Archie-Epps and Chelshe Archie, both of Port Gibson; a niece whom she reared, Tonya Earthely of Chicago; two brothers, Jack Howard of Evanston, Ill., and Roosevelt Howard of Clarksdale; one sister, Georgia Earthely of Chicago; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at noon Monday at Second Baptist M.B. Church with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at the Howard Family Cemetery in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be at Thompson Funeral Home chapel from 1 until 3:30 p.m. today, with a family hour at the church from 5 until 7 p.m.
ALFRED H. JOSEPH
Alfred H. “Red” Joseph died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.
Mr. Joseph was born in Crosby and had lived in Vicksburg since 1951. He was a retired civil engineer at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Waterways Experiment Station.
He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a charter member of Hawkins United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred D. and Nettie Mae Joseph; and two brothers, Jewel Joseph and Roy Joseph.
He is survived by his wife, Ann C. Joseph of Vicksburg; two sons, Dennis M. Joseph of Vicksburg and Richard D. Joseph of Jackson; one daughter, Linda Joseph Alford of West Monroe, La.; one sister, Gwen Putnam of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Mitchell Hedgepeth and Bill Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Robert Joseph, Warren Joseph, Tom Joseph, Steve Sullivan, Jeff Joseph and Al Kreppein.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Crusaders Sunday School Class of Hawkins United Methodist Church and the Jones Hunting Club in Crosby, Dr. Paul Pierce, Oren Bailess, Faye Lancaster and Bill Fought.
Memorials may be made to the building fund of Hawkins United Methodist Church, 3736 Halls Ferry Road, or the Methodist Children’s Home, 7578 Old Canton Road, Madison, MS 39110.
JAMES FLOYD O’MARY
PIONEER James Floyd O’Mary died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. He was 83.
Mr. O’Mary was born in Hampton, Ark., and lived in Pioneer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Eli and Kattie Franklin O’Mary; one brother, David Clarence O’Mary; and one sister, Iler O’Mary Collier.
He is survived by two brothers, Richard O’Mary of Pioneer and Herbert “Red” O’Mary of Delhi; and one sister, Ludell Borden of Pioneer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Buck Curry officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery in Forest.
