PINKNEY EDWARD CUNNINGHAM JR.
Pinkney Edward Cunningham Jr. died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 88.
A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Cunningham was the son of Annie Hunt Cunningham and Pinkney Edward Cunningham Sr. He retired as an engineering technician from Waterways Experiment Station in 1977. He was a graduate of Vicksburg High School and a longtime member of the 412th Engineering Command.
Mr. Cunningham was a lifelong member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Chancel Choir and Aldersgate Sunday school class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Ann Turner; and a brother, Russell Gordon Cunningham.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Annice Holmes Cunningham of Vicksburg; one daughter, Christine Cunningham of Gadsden, Ala.; one son, Pinkney Edward Cunningham III of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters, Betty Bryant of Jackson and Mary Ellen Franklin of Covington, La.; a brother, Murray Hunt Cunningham of Metairie, La.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crawford Street United Methodist Church with Geoffrey Joyner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Vaiden Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the service in Wesley Hall at the church.
Pallbearers will be John Klein, Gaither Rowe, Dr. Walter Johnston, Sydney Johnston, Kenneth Grogan, John Boa, Leon Henry and Thomas Henry.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Anderson, Henry Cloud, Charles Loch, members of the Chancel Choir and members of Aldersgate Sunday school class.

ROBERT E. GORE SR.
SIDON, Miss. Robert E. “Bobby” Gore Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. He was 73.
A native of Cleveland, Miss., Mr. Gore had been living in Sidon for the past 54 years. He was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Phillipston Volunteer Fire Department and the Sidon Lions Club. He was a member of Phillipston Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He retired as superintendent of Yazoo Valley Oil Mill in Hollandale after 42 years of service.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Albert Gore, and a sister, Kathryn Narmour.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Eloise Pittman Gore of Sidon; his mother, Ruth Pounds Gore of Greenwood; three daughters, Gail Minga of Oakland, Miss., Cynthia Ingram of Euless, Texas, and Michelle Moore of Greenwood; a son, Robert Gore Jr. of Sidon; two sisters, June Wier of Money, Miss., and Alene Thornton of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with the Revs. Perry Irvin and Dennis McKay officiating. Burial will follow at North Union Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Miss.
Visitation will be at 5 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mark Minga, Stephen Hambrick, Allen Dees, Schuyler Long, Andy Gore, Douglas Melton and Matthew Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Gibson, Ricky Gibson and the men of Phillipston Baptist Church.
BRANSON PHILIP JONES
WEST MONROE, La. Branson Philip Jones, infant son of Krista Leigh Benson of Baytown, Texas, and Antione Jeromiah Jones of West Monroe, La., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Charles T. and Betty Lou Munholland of Oak Grove and Molly McGaughey of Baytown; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Revs. Skip Dean and Joe Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at Epps Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Thomas H. Nason Jr. and Adam Benson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Thomas Munholland, Claude Grant, Thomas H. Nason Sr., Paul Nason, Raymond Mayne and Harvey Lee Black.
PETER SMITH SR.
Services for Peter Smith Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Travelers Rest M.B. Church with Thomas Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.
Mr. Smith died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.
He was a member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church. He retired from Piggly Wiggly Stores Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Smith Sr. and Mary Etta Smith; a sister, Lena Mae Smith; and two brothers, Alex Smith and Richard Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl E. Smith of Vicksburg; two sons, Kenneth Jolly of Vicksburg and Peter Smith of Kissimmee, Fla.; four daughters, Lena Tolliver and Pearl Nelson, both of Vicksburg, Mary Washington of Texarkana, Texas, and Patricia Benson of Huntsville, Ala.; five brothers, Jesse Smith and Robert Hall, both of Vicksburg, James Smith of Drew, George Smith of Denver, Colo., and Calvin Smith of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
