[12/11/02]Cookie Johnson scored 10 of her team-high 13 points in the second quarter as Warren Central blew open a close, low-scoring game and went on to beat Ridgeland 51-31 Tuesday night.

The game was tied 5-5 after one period, but WC oustcored Ridgeland 38-13 in the second and third quarters. Johnson’s second-quarter binge helped the Lady Vikes outscore Ridgeland 20-7 in the period.

Ashley Vinzant hit a pair of 3-pointers and had eight points for the Lady Vikes, and Lindsey Caldwell had a game-high 17 points for Ridgeland.

(B) WC 74, Ridgeland 58

Leading scorer Dewayne Washington was held to a season-low five points, but four Warren Central players scored in double figures to pick up the slack and lead the Vikings to a win over Ridgeland.

Chi Chi Ezekwe led WC with 15 points, Rod Montgomery added 14, Kenny Stewart had 13, and Ronnie Jones had 10.

Bobby Grace had a game-high 19 points for Ridgeland, Kenyanna Davis had 13, Morris Carrol had 11, and Chislon Thomas added 10.

(G) PCA 66, Tallulah 32

Porters Chapel Academy outscored Tallulah Academy 23-6 in the second quarter to shake off another slow start and get its ninth straight win.

Brady Willis led PCA (13-3, 5-1 Conference 5-A) with 17 points, Annie Beaugh had 12, Brittany White added 10, and Brittany Willis had nine. Amanda Muse led Tallulah with 10 points.

Tallulah was 0-for-9 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and scored only four points in the final period.

(B) Tallulah 66, PCA 57

Cade Marsh led four Tallulah Academy players in double figures with 22 points and the Trojans built a 14-point halftime lead in earning their first win of the season.

Preston Walker added 15 points for Tallulah (1-6, 1-4 Conference 5-A), Brad Gustafson had 13 and Cole Grissom had 10. Joseph Ivey led all scorers with 34 points for PCA (5-4, 3-3), while Ryan Hoben had 12 and Humphrey Barlow added 11.

PCA will host Franklin Friday, while Tallulah will be at Deer Creek. Both games will begin at 6 p.m.

(B) MSD 65, St. Aloysius 47

Anthony Rector scored a team-high 19 points and Jason Brown added 11, but St. Aloysius (1-6) scored just four points in the fourth quarter in a loss to the Mississippi School for the Deaf.

“We had a meltdown all of a sudden,” St. Al coach Paul Hayden said. “We tied the game twice early in the second half, but didn’t make a run. We didn’t play good team ball.”

Brandon Minor had 22 points for MSD, while Vicksburg native Ro’Derrick Brown scored eight.

Sarah Kerut scored 18 and Caitlin Moak netted 10 in the loss.

The Lady Flashes (1-6) pulled to within four in the third quarter and had several opportunities to take the lead, but six straight possessions ended in errant shots, Hayden said.

St. Al will be at Bogue Chitto on Friday night.

(B) SIA 57, Washington 47

Zach McDaniel came off the bench to score 17 points and Chase Mahaltic added 22 as Sharkey-Issaquena beat Washington School.

(G) SIA 51, Washington 46

Kristen Cox scored 18, Keri Smith scored 14 and Emily Ann Magee netted 11 in Sharkey’s win. Abby Collins had nine rebounds in the win.

(G) SIA 46, Briarfield 24

Kristen Cox haad 12 points and eight rebounds, and Emily Ann Magee added 10 points and six rebounds as Sharkey-Issaquena knocked off Briarfield Tuesday night.

Carrie Weaver had seven points and 11 rebounds for SIA (9-6, 4-1 Conference 5-A), and Allison Harding had seven rebounds.

SIA will face Humphreys Friday at 6 p.m.

(B) Briarfield 49, SIA 42

Sharkey-Issaquena stormed back from a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter, cutting it to four points with 3 minutes to play, but the Confederates saw their comeback fall short when they were called for two technical

fouls in the final two minutes.

Peter Fisher led SIA (8-4, 4-2 Conference 5-A) with 15 points, Zach McDaniel added 12 points and four steals, and Phillip Bass grabbed nine rebounds.
