KEVIN M. BARNETTE

MEMPHIS Kevin M. “DaQuad” Barnette died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. He was 30.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Barnette lived in Southaven, Miss. He was a member of the Harley-Davidson Owner’s Group and Christian Motorcycle Association.

He is survived by his mother, Teresa Barnette of Southaven; three sisters, Debbie Martin of Jacksonville, Fla., Danielle Smith of Southaven and Melissa Rushing of Horn Lake, Miss.; three brothers, Sgt. Shane Luker of Alaska, Ron Luker of Jackson and Kerri Barnette of Vicksburg; and his grandparents, Geneva Garner and Gladys Barnette.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hill South Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Hill South cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

ALBERT ELLIS MOSES

Services for Albert Ellis Moses will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. George Orthodox Church with the Rev. Peter Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service at St. George Orthodox Church. Trisagon prayers will be at 4 p.m. today.

Mr. Moses died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 81.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Moses was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He co-owned and operated a Jitney-Jungle Store for many years and worked part-time as a greeter for Wal-Mart. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. George Orthodox Church, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Reserve Officers Association. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John M. Moses Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Dolly Martin Moses of Vicksburg; a daughter, Melanie Hood of Vicksburg; two sisters, Doris Moses Abraham of Marshall, Texas, and Ann Moses Sudeiha of Mobile, Ala.; and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Moses, Wallace Guy, Darrell Martin, Jim Sudeiha, Bill Abraham and Brian Abraham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Moses, George Nasif, Charles Abraham, James Martin, Dr. Murray Whitaker, Dr. George Abraham and George Maples.

Memorials may be made to St. George Orthodox Church, 2709 Washington St., Vicksburg, MS., 39180, or any charity.

WARENE WILSON NATIONS

Warene Wilson Nations died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.

Mrs. Nations was born in Claiborne County and had lived in Vicksburg for 16 years. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Ovie Wilson; and a brother, Ellis Wilson Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbur F. Nations Sr.; a son, Wilbur F. Nations Jr., of Vidalia, La.; a daughter, Sherry Lowery of Vicksburg; a brother, Roy Wilson of Vicksburg; three sisters, Ruth Curtis of Utica, Dot Sweeny of Vidalia and Virginia Yarberry of Dallas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cane Ridge Cemetery in Lorman. Burial will follow at Cane Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Lowery, Bobby Ross, Brian Ross, David Brewer, Timmy Sweeney, Ray Sweeney and Terry Sweeney.

BLANCHE P. PUCKETT

Blanche P. Puckett died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Puckett was born in Louisiana and had lived in Vicksburg for 50 years. She was a retired receptionist for Messina’s Medical Clinic and was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Son” Puckett.

She is survived by her sister, Grace Pettway Atkins of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Monday until the hour of the service at Glenwood Funeral Home.
