ERNIE ALBRITTON

SENATOBIA Ernie Albritton died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven. He was 68.

Mr. Albritton graduated in 1951 from Murphy High School in Mobile, Ala., and in 1956 from Mississippi College, where he was a member of the M-Club and Sports Hall of Fame. He completed graduate work at Ole Miss, Mississippi State University and the University of Oklahoma. He played in the Canadian Football League for the Toronto Argonauts.

Mr. Albritton had been honored as Mississippi Citizen of the Year and Mississippi Athlete of the Year. He served as first head coach at Warren Central High School and was named Private School Track Coach of the Year in 2002.

He was supply music minister in Mississippi, Arkansas and Oklahoma. He was a member of the Albritton Quartet, Middle Cross Quartet and the Remembering Time Quartet.

He worked as a trainer and coach for Tate County Schools and was employed by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Survivors include his wife, Kitt Albritton of Senatobia; two daughters, Cherie Anderson of Vicksburg and Michele Ricker of Meridian; two sons, Jay Albritton of Vicksburg and Scott Albritton of Brandon; two stepchildren, Liesl Sanden Ross of Waukesha, Wis., and Erich G. Doser of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his mother, Cleola Albritton of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Marty Odom of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Paul Albritton of Vicksburg and Truman Albritton of Senatobia; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Senatobia. Burial will follow at Senatobia Memorial Cemetery under the direction of C.O. Pate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Senatobia First Baptist Church youth/music fund or to the Mississippi College Athletic Department.

HAZEL FLANAGAN BROWN

Hazel Flanagan Brown died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 80.

Born in Huntsville, Ala., Mrs. Brown had been a Vicksburg resident for most of her life. A retired nurse, she had worked for the Vicksburg Infirmary and Vicksburg Hospital. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Brown; her mother, Elizabeth Flanagan; two sisters, Rosella Freeman and Susan Thompson; and a daughter, Betty Jean Brown.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Brogdon of Vicksburg; three sons, Kenneth J. Brown, William E. Brown and Jerry L. Brown, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Lucille Ryals of Vicksburg; and 10 grandchildren and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Terry White and Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Ables, Ritchie Ables, Jamie Ross, Chuckie Lee, Gene Thompson, James Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, David Smith and Leon Thompson.

Honorary pallbearer will be Harold Thompson.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or Bowmar Baptist Church.

NORMAN SHAW CRAIG II

OAK GROVE Norman Shaw Craig II died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at his home in Irving, Texas. He was 38.

Mr. Craig had worked as a corporate aircraft manager for Jet Aviation Inc.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Aleen Craig and Robert and Daisy Wagley.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Townsend Craig of Irving; a daughter, Chelsi Nicole Craig of Irving; a son, Nicholas Carson Craig of Irving; his mother, Pat Wagley Craig of Monroe; his father, Paul W. Craig of Lake Providence; one sister, Cynthia Ann Pundt of Gatesville, Texas; a brother, Butch Craig of Oak Grove; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with Randy Wagley and Robert Wagley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert LaCaze, Richard Lewis, Greg Hill, David Rhinehart, Chuck Lee and Glenn Tanner.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to a favorite charity.

ANITRA DIONE FISHER

ALEXIS RENEE HARRIS

Services for Anitra Dione Fisher and her daughter, Alexis Renee Harris, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Zion M.B. Church, 8188 Halls Ferry Road, with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

The mother and daughter died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, from injuries sustained in a car accident. Ms. Fisher was 23; Alexis was 2.

Ms. Fisher was employed by the Isle of Capri Casino and was a member of the New Zion M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, C.J. Fisher Sr. and Minnie Gaskin Fisher, and her paternal stepgrandfather, Robert Carpenter.

Survivors for both include Ms. Fisher’s father, Marshall Edwards of Vicksburg; her mother, Minnette F. Chambers of Vicksburg; her stepfather, John F. Chambers of Vicksburg; her brother, John F. Chambers Jr. of Vicksburg; her paternal grandparents, James Edwards Sr. and Dan Ethel Edwards; her stepgrandmother Laura Carpenter; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Alexis is also survived by her father, Jermaine Harris of Vicksburg; her paternal grandmother, Dorothy Anderson of Vicksburg; and members of the Fisher, Gaskin and Chambers families.

MARIMAN DEAN FRYDAY

COLLINSTON, La. Mariman Dean “M.D.” Fryday died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at his home in Collinston, La. He was 82.

Born in Pioneer, La., Mr. Fryday served in the Navy in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was a retired electrician and a member of Local 446 in Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Bulloch Fryday, and his father, Robert Dale Fryday.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Bernice Fryday of Collinston; a son, Larry Fryday of Bastrop, La.; a daughter, Kay Thompson of Atlanta, Texas; two brothers, A.C. Fryday of Kilbourne, La., and Robert Fryday of Mount Vernon, Ill.; two sisters, Launa Canoy of Oak Grove and Doris Sullivan of Lake Providence; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial United Methodist Church in Bastrop with the Revs. Roy Moore and Ramon Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the church.

Pallbearers will be R.W. Lloyd, Bob Stewart, Dean Price, Neal DeForest, Jim Adams and Chris Reppond.
