Freddie S. Green
SATARTIA Freddie S. Green died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.
Born in Milan, Texas, Mrs. Green lived in Satartia. She was a retired farmer and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Green; her parents, William Conda Stinson and Janie Pierce; a daughter, Carrie Mae Green; and a grandson, Ken Ragland.
Survivors include four daughters, Christine Harris, Peggy Harris, Janie Martin and Betty Morrow, all of Satartia; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Darey Combs officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Yazoo County under the direction of Stricklin King Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Zack Green, Clint Green, Christopher Harris, Cody Childress, Chase Smith, Rush Ragland, Chandler Ragland, Justin Lancaster, John Michael Harris, Lane Childress, Hunter Martin and Rick Ledbetter.
Douglas Hynum
FLORA Douglas “Doug” Hynum died Monday, January 6, 2003, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 77.
A native of Pattison, Mr. Hynum lived in Flora. He was an Army veteran having served in World War II with the European theater in the Infantry. He was a member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Madison and an appliance distributor.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hynum of Flora; a son, Charles Hynum of Terry; two daughters, Liz Dettman of Flora and Card Stuart of St. Augustine, Fla.; a brother, P.W. Hynum of Port Gibson; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson. Burial will follow at Edwards City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Ashanti Temera Aliyah Sims
Ashanti Temera Aliyah Sims, infant daughter of Verneecha Ward and Keith Sims, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003.
Services will at 1 p.m. today at Brookhaven Cemetery in Bovina. Burial will follow under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.
