Mayfield, Wooley file for supervisor posts

[115/03]One incumbent Warren County supervisor and one challenger filed qualifying papers Tuesday to run in this fall’s elections.
The deadline is Feb. 28 and qualifying is done through the Circuit Clerk’s Office in the Warren County Courthouse.
Michael Mayfield, District 2 supervisor, filed as a Democrat, confirming he will seek a third four-year term.
Party primaries are scheduled for Aug. 5. The general election is Nov. 4.
Also Tuesday, Joe Wooley, 60, filed to run for the District 5 supervisor position currently held by board president Richard George. Also the first to file for election to that office this year, Wooley, who is retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, filed as an independent and is seeking the post for the second time.
All posts for supervisors, court clerks, sheriffs, tax collectors, tax assessors, county prosecutors, coroners, justice court judges, constables and legislators in Mississippi are up for election this year along with the governor, lieutenant governor and other state officials.

Dot McGee (incumbent), chancery clerk, Democrat.
Mike Caruthers, circuit clerk, independent.
Eddie Hoover, Northern District constable, independent.
Charles Selmon, District 3 supervisor, Democrat.
Deadlines for unregistered voters to enroll to cast ballots are July 5 for the primaries and Oct. 5 for the general election.
