Louise Grace Ferry Brown

Services for Louise Grace Ferry Brown will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.

Mrs. Brown was a native of Waukegan, Ill., and had lived in Vicksburg since 1936.

She was a graduate of Waukegan Township High School and National College of Education in Evanstown, Ill. She received her bachelor of education degree and worked two years in the Waukegan Public School System.

She was a charter member of Hawkins United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Raymond Brown; her parents, Earl William and Helen Louise Carswell Ferry, and two sisters, Elizabeth Ferry Corpe and Helen Ferry Stiles.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra B. and Tommy Swilley of Bartlett, Tenn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick R. and Nancy H. Brown Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, and Roger Alan and Barbara B. Brown of Winchester Va.; a brother, Earl William “Bill” Ferry of Waukegan; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the men of Hawkins United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Hawkins United Methodist Church, 3736 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Thaddeus Albert Dillard

Services for Thaddeus Albert Dillard will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Parish Center with Linda Sweezer officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Robbins Funeral Home with family hour from 6 until 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service at St. Mary’s Center.

Mr. Dillard died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 57.

Mr. Dillard was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a long-time employee of Delphi Automotive Systems in Clinton. He graduated from Temple High School in Vicksburg and attended Jackson State University.

He was a member of the House of Peace Worship Church of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Dillard Jr.; a sister, Flora Howard; and a brother, William Richardson.

He is survived by his wife, Maude Dillard of Raymond; two daughters, Rochelle Dillard of Blytheville, Ark., and Kimberly Williams of Spanaway, Wash.; a son, Jeremy Thomas of Vicksburg; three stepchildren, Mary Jenkins, Barbara Adams and Gregory Robinson, all of Jackson; his mother, Bessie Richardson Dillard of Vicksburg; five brothers, John Henry Dillard of Vicksburg, James Cornelius Dillard of Oak Park, Ill., Perry Lawrence Dillard of Gulfport, Larry E. Dillard of Miami, Fla., and Leon Harper of Dale City, Va.; four sisters, Bessie Mae Funches and Evangelist Linda Sweezer, both of Vicksburg, Marilyn G. Dillard of Jackson and Felicia Jones of Fitler; three grandchildren, Nazi Shamoil of Blytheville, Ark., Jordan Williams of Spanaway and KeShawn Robinson of Jackson; and friends and other relatives, including members of the Wright, Richardson, Johnson, Bell and Turner families.

Brenda Beard Gayton

Services for Brenda Beard Gayton will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Rosary will be at 6 tonight at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Ms. Gayton died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 43.

A resident of Vicksburg, Ms. Gayton was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She worked in the Vicksburg Warren School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Asberry Beard Sr. and Annie Lee Beard; and a brother, Asberry Beard Jr.

Survivors include a son, Cory Lynn Beard of Vicksburg; two daughters, Courtney Etta Beard and Christy Eliticia Beard, both of Vicksburg; five brothers, Michael Lee Beard of Colorado Springs, Colo., Donald Lee Beard and Gregory Vincent Beard, both of Vicksburg, Frank Gerald Davis of Augusta, Ga., and Joslyn Stanford Davis of Biloxi; three sisters, Cynthia Odeal Simpson of Hepizibah, Ga., and Rita Ann Beard and Maria Michelle Beard, both of Augusta; a granddaughter; and other relatives.

Annie Louise Taylor Hale

Annie Louise Taylor Hale died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at her home. She was 82.

Born in McFall, Ala., Mrs. Hale had lived in Vicksburg for the past 58 years. She was a former employee of Office Supply Company and retired from the Vicksburg Police Department with 17 years of service as a crossing guard. She was a member of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milburn Ray Hale; her parents, Isaac Grover and Ada Anna Timmons Taylor; a sister, Myrtle Taylor; eight brothers, Cecil Taylor, Edison Taylor, Gerald Taylor, Horace Taylor, Howell Taylor, Howard Taylor, Leonard Taylor and Lewis Taylor.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda W. Garnett of Starkville and Barbara “Bobbie” Dolan of Vicksburg; three sisters, Vivian Pullen of Shreveport, La., Gertrude Finnegan of Woodstock, Ga., and Evelyn Voss of Purvis; a granddaughter, Terri J. Wright of Batesville, Miss.; and other relatives and friends, including Frank Scharwath and the Scharwath family.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Voss officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Mozingo, Ron Mozingo, Danny Mozingo, Darryl Hale, Perry Hale and Charles Haley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Edney, Dr. Steven Zachow, Frank Scharwath, George Scharwath, Fred Garnett and Tony Johnson.
