Estelle R. Ahner

Estelle R. Ahner died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 80.

Born in Delhi, Mrs. Ahner had lived in Vicksburg for 60 years. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. “Bud” Ahner; and her parents, Leon and Bessie Lowery Rundell.

Survivors include two sons, Harvey Hester of Vicksburg and Dale Ahner of Delhi; two daughters, Kitty Ahner of Vicksburg and Maureen Reddoch of Kenner, La.; and a granddaughter, Jessica Reddoch of Kenner, La.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Cash Ahner, Bare Ahner, Jeff Riggs, Johnny Flag, Neil Brooks and Johnny Lynn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Gerache, Martin Pace and John “Peewee” Parker.

Stacey Kay Klaus

Stacey Kay Klaus died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at University Medical Center. She was 40.

A resident of Vicksburg, Ms. Klaus graduated from Vicksburg High School and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She was a respiratory therapist at River Region Medical Center and a recipient of the River Region Humanitarian Award. She was a member of the Vicksburg Women’s Soccer League.

Survivors include her parents, Sylvain Klaus and Alta M. Klaus of Vicksburg; a sister, Marion Klaus of Sheridan, Wyo.; her maternal grandmother, Lottie M. Shamblin of Vicksburg; an aunt, Carol Ann Oakman of Vicksburg; an uncle, James Shamblin of Jackson; and other relatives and friends including Kari Smith of Pompano Beach, Fla., and members of the Oakman and Shamblin families.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall officiating.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Vicksburg Warren County Humane Society, 6600 Highway 61 South, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Thomas Harold McCorkle

BRINKLEY, Ark. Thomas Harold McCorkle died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He was 90.

A lifelong resident of Brinkley, Ark., Mr. McCorkle worked for the John Deere Corporation. He retired as manager of Producers Implement Company in Brinkley. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. He served on the City Board of Aldermen and was a member of the Lions Club.

He was an Army veteran serving during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Service Star and Good Conduct medal for the Rhineland Campaign.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas G. and Emma Long McCorkle; a brother, John H. McCorkle; and two sisters, Ruby Elrod and Alice Tubb.

Survivors include his wife, Leola McCorkle of Brinkley; a daughter, Kay McCorkle Farrell of Vicksburg; three brothers, Frederick McCorkle of Sand Springs, Okla., Lloyd McCorkle of Tulsa, Okla., and Leonard McCorkle of Salina, Okla.; three sisters, Martha Jean Hill of Garland, Texas, Mary Emma Warren of Sand Springs and Donna Sue Walker of Littleton, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

Services were Sunday at First Baptist Church in Brinkley with the Rev. Jim McDaniel officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Fowler Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Gus Rusher, Ralph Clifton, Leslie Brown, Donald Glenn Fuller, Sam Medford and Joe Wilkison.

Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Brinkley.
