Lillie Mae Jones

Lillie Mae Jones died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 79.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Jones was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Augusta Jones.

She is survived by a sister, Ruby Lee Wilson of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Betty Jean Coleman Shelby

EDWARDS Betty Jean Coleman Shelby died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at her home in Edwards. She was 68.

Mrs. Shelby was born to the late Willie and Alice Simmons Coleman. She was a member of Friendship M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, L.C. Coleman, and two daughters, Mylette Shelby and Coralette Shelby.

Survivors include her husband, Freddie Shelby of Edwards; one son, Freddie Shelby Jr. of Denton, Texas; four sisters, Martha Coleman, Annie Bell Jones, Bessie Jackson and Mertis Coleman, all of Chicago; two brothers, Johnnie Coleman and A.J. Coleman of Chicago; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Ernest West of Bolton and Thelma Branche, Jessie Richards, Jessie Bell Nichols and Veola Burks, all of Edwards.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at St. Paul M.B. Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Elder Willie Wilson

PATTISON Elder Willie Wilson died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at his home in Pattison. He was 67.

Elder Wilson was born to the late Dan and Irene Wilson. He worked for American Paper Tube in Port Gibson for a number of years. He was former pastor of Providence Christian Church and was serving as pastor of Forrest Grove Christian Church, Antioch Christian Church, King David Christian Church and St. Elmo’s Christian Church.

He served as president for the quarterly meeting of the Christian Church Association for 12 years and secretary for Little Zion Christian Church. He was a member of Christian Aid.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Katina Wilson; and a sister, Irene Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Gussie P. Wilson of Pattison; three sons, Willie L. Wilson Jr. of Vicksburg, Lawrence Wilson of Starkville and Cladell Wilson of Cambridge, Ohio; two daughters, Sandra Wilson and Debbie Wilson-Davis, both of Jackson; three brothers, Nathan Wilson and Dan Wilson Jr., both of Fayette, and Henry Wilson of Port Gibson; five sisters, Louise Berry, Ollie Shorter and Winnie Richardson, all of Port Gibson, Sarah Reed of Jackson and Retha Davis of Lorman; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Christian Church in Port Gibson with Elder T.E. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Christian Church Cemetery in Pattison.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
