Philip Habeeb

Philip Habeeb died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 91.

Mr. Habeeb was born in Lebanon and moved to Vicksburg in 1920. He was a retired salesman and a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Habeeb and Loretta Oeed Habeeb.

He is survived by a daughter, Shirley H. Abney of Madison; a grandson, Robert Luther Abney IV of Madison; and a great grandson, Simms Alexander Abney of Madison.

Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

George W. Bodron

George W. Bodron died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at the Hospice Ministry in Ridgeland. He was 81.

Mr. Bodron was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and retired after working 40 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He served in the Army during World War II, was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen Bodron; and a brother, Robert Bodron.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Bodron of Vicksburg; three daughters, Dianne Adkins of Johnson City, Tenn., Sarah Allday of Ridgeland and Jeanne Bodron-Hayes of Madison; two brothers, Allen Bodron of Memphis and John Albert Bodron of Biloxi; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Rev. Peter Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 until 5 today at Fisher Funeral Home. Trisagion Prayers will be at 4:30.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3 Forest Hill Circle, Vicksburg, MS 39180; the American Diabetes Association, 16 Northtown Drive, Jackson, MS 39211; or Hospice Ministry, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.

Pallbearers will be military personnel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Claude N. Adkins Jr., Nathan T. Adkins, John W. Hayes Jr., John Allen Bodron, Jim Bodron, Bob Bodron, Charles Hill, George E. Abraham, Ray Bailey, John A. Thomason, III and David Weeks.

Ruby M. Johnson

Ruby M. Johnson died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield. She was 67.

Ms. Johnson was born in Centerville and lived in Vicksburg for 45 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lamar MacIntosh, Gordon MacIntosh, David MacIntosh and Philip MacIntosh.

She is survived by a son, Michael Edison of Meridian; a daughter, Cindy E. Flowers of Vicksburg; five grandchildren and three great-granchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Monday until the service.

Carrie Gammon Boland

GRENADA Carrie Gammon Boland died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 97.

Mrs. Boland lived in Vicksburg for 21 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grenada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Boland Sr., and a son, Robert A. Boland Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Jean Boland Haywood of Oxford; and two brothers, John D. Gammon of Tyler, Texas, and Lambert T. Gammon of Chicago; six granchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Grenada.

Visitation will be from 2 until 4 today at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg and 10 a.m. Monday until the service at the Garner-Harper Funeral Home in Grenada.

Pallbearers are Jerry Boland, Keith Haywood, Mickle Haywood, Johnnie Selman, Mike Grace and John Wayne Purdy.

Michael Steven Huff Sr.

OAK GROVE, La.

Mr. Huff was preceded in death by his parents, Earsel Huff and Hazel Huff; and a brother, Ernest Earl Huff.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Huff; two sons, Michael Huff Jr. and James Huff, both of Oak Grove; a brother, Randy Huff of Springfield, La.; three sisters, Jana Cheek and Theresa Brumfield, both of Baker, La., and Dorothy Harris of Avon, Miss.

Services will be at 2 today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Jimbo Herring officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
