Walter Cooper Jr.
RIDGELAND Walter “Dean” Cooper Jr. died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 80.
Born in Natchez, Mr. Cooper was a resident of Valley Park before moving to Ridgeland three years ago. He was a retired farmer and farm manager for Johnson Brothers Farms. He was a member and deacon of Valley Park Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Cooper Sr. and Agnes Malbrough Cooper; and two brothers, Fred Cooper and Clarence Cooper.
Survivors include his wife, Inez P. Cooper of Ridgeland; a daughter, Ruby Jane Cooper of Ridgeland; a brother, Jack Cooper of Vicksburg; and two sisters, Sally Porter of Valley Park and Sue Bishop of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Biedenharn officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Wynn Johnson, David Johnson, Brad Blackmon, Terrel Porter Jr., Josh Blackmon, Guy Barnett Jr., Jay Cooper and Johnny Tompkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Johnson, Max Barnette, Boop Braxton, Charley Jones, Mickey Blackmon, Eric Allen, Ashley Causey, Bob Magruder and Billy Hodnett.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Baptist Children’s Home.
Earlena Frazier
UTICA Earlena Frazier died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 70.
Mrs. Frazier was preceded in death by her parents, Naomi and Joe Allen; her husband, Lt. Sam Frazier; and a stepson, Araska Frazier.
She is survived by six daughters, Carrie Frazier, Mary Allen, Dorothy Allen, Coreen Flowers and Carrie Shelton, all of Utica, and Ida Allen of Jackson; two sons, Johnnie Frazier and Frank Frazier, both of Utica; two sisters, Florence Allen of Utica and Mae Lena Allen of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Belmont M.B. Church in Utica with the Rev. Phillip Burks officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Port Gibson and from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the service at the church.
Philip Habeeb
Services for Philip Habeeb will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. George Orthodox Church.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home.
Mr. Habeeb died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 91.
Mr. Habeeb was a lifelong Vicksburg resident and had recently moved to Madison. He was a life member of St. George Antiochian Church and retired after 50 years of service as a manufacturers representative.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Spaugh Habeeb; his parents, Loretta and Alexander Habeeb; a sister, Maggie Habeeb Abraham; and a brother, William Habeeb.
He is survived by a daughter, Shirley Abney of Madison; one sister, Waddad Habeeb Buttross of Natchez; three brothers, Touphie Habeeb and Shouphie Habeeb, both of Vicksburg, and Dr. Alfred Habeeb of Birmingham; a grandson, Robert Luther Abney IV; a great-grandson, Simms Alexander Abney; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Peter Buttross, Alex Habeeb, Gregory Thomas, Philip Habeeb, Doug Panzone and Joe Stradinger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Abraham, Dr. Fred Habeeb, William Mark Habeeb, Leo Boolos, Minnie B. Richardson, Carlton Rone, Fred Grayson, Richard Cooper, Jimmy Marquis and Jeb Blackburn.
Roberta Robinson Harris
Roberta Robinson Harris died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.
A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Harris retired from Vicksburg Seed Store after 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo James Harris Sr.
Survivors include a son, Leo James Harris Jr. of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Angela Andrews and Leo James Harris III, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
