Grambling grabs McCall pair

[2/6/03]No Warren County players signed with four-year schools on Wednesday, but other schools around the area contributed their fair share to the recruiting Class of 2003.

McCall High School sent two players on to the collegiate ranks. Running back Justin Williams, a St. Aloysius transfer who ran for 1,478 yards and 13 TDs last season, and offensive lineman Larry Reynolds both signed with Grambling.

Hinds Community College running back Mason Denham, a former Port Gibson star, signed with Louisiana-Monroe. Denham ran for more than 700 yards and 11 TDs last season at Hinds, and was selected second-team all-state.

Warren Central did send seven on to the junior college ranks.

Defensive lineman Rod Montgomery, fullback Henry Williams, defensive back Antonio Brown, offensive lineman Deonta Selvy, linebacker Andrew Patten and wide receiver Larry King all signed to play at Hinds Community College. Defensive back Chris Hemphill signed with Southwest Mississippi C.C.

Selvy and Patten were also selected to play in the Bernard Blackwell Classic All-Star game July 18 at Madison Central. They will be joined by Vicksburg High fullback Phelan Gray, offensive linemen Delvechio Ellis and Paul Gorney, and South Delta linebacker Lorenzo Fain.
