Melvin Leon Orman
RAYMOND Melvin Leon “Bud” Orman, a former resident of Vicksburg, died Saturday Feb. 15, 2003, at Covington County Hospital in Collins. He was 83.
Mr. Orman was born in Jackson and was a member of the Army serving in the 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion. He retired from South Central Bell after 37 years of service as a switchman. He lived in Vicksburg while employed at South Central Bell. He was a member of McDowell Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary B. Orman of Raymond; three daughters, Kay Lynn Beemon of Ocean Springs, Brenda Massimo of Fredricks, Md., and Crystal Gaddis of Florence; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ida Webb Lowery Cameron
Ida Webb Lowery Cameron, a former resident of Eagle Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the her sister’s home in Starkville. She was 83.
Mrs. Cameron was born in Calvert, Ala.
She served as chairman of the board of Cameron Inc., and Cameron Realty Inc. She was a member of Las Camaradas Luncheon Club in Jackson, the Tuesday Bridge Club, Plerians Literary Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Meadowbrook Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Cameron Jr.
Survivors include three sons, Rep. Thomas Franklin “Tom” Cameron III of Greenville, David Lowery of Corinth and Herman Francis Cameron of Madison; a daughter, Mary Cameron Howard of Starkville; four sisters, Miriam Martin of West Point, Vallie Bolmes of Jackson, Jean Small of Tyler, Texas, and Lois Leigh of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Whiteside, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Starkville and Rev. Prentice Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Natchez Trace Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service Monday.

Henry F. McCormack Jr.
Henry F. McCormack Jr. died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 74.
Mr. McCormack was born in Desoto, Mo., and moved to Vicksburg when he was a child.
He was a graduate of Carr Central High School and served in the 434th Engineer Battalion of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. McCormack retired as assistant chief from the U.S. Border Patrol after 26 years of service in California and Texas.
He was a member of the U.S. Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agents Association, the Fraternal Order of Retired Border Patrol Officers and a life-long member of the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvian Schaff McCormack; and his parents, Henry F. and Emma Brister McCormack Sr.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy McCormack Steed of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mary Bridget McCormack Beard of Tomball, Texas; two sons, Henry F. McCormack III of Houston and Mark C. McCormack of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Mary McCormack Brown of Vicksburg; nephews; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner, pastor of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 noon Tuesday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Gary Brown, Todd Brown, Glynn Brown, Martin Pace, Greg Brown and Paul Barrett.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kellog Bobb, Craig Brown, Sidney Tillotson and Aubrey Sullivan.
Irene A. Monroe
Irene A. Monroe died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Heritage House. She was 82.
Mrs. Monroe was a native of Knoxville, Tenn., and an elementary teacher who retired to Vicksburg in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Frenchie Blake Armstrong; and her husband, Mark L. Monroe.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen M. Diduch of Frederick, Md.; a son, Mark L. Monroe of Vicksburg; a brother, Charles Armstrong of Brandon, Fla.; four grandchildren, Susan Orman and Jenny Karel, both of Vicksburg, Tara Diduch and Jeff Diduch both of Frederick; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Genty-Griffey Funeral Chapel in Knoxville. Visitation will be Monday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

John E. Stafford
John E. Stafford died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 83.
Mr. Stafford was born in Woodland, Miss., and had lived in Vicksburg since 1974.
He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and Memphis State University Law School.
Mr. Stafford retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1993. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and a member of the Vicksburg Lions Club and a member of the First Church of Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguriette Stafford.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Cochran and Linda “Missy” Tello, both of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren, Michael Dispenza, Sean Dispenza, Chris Dispenza, Matthew Dispenza, Austin Tello and John Nicholas, all of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Gordon Sansing and John G. McCall officiating.
Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Dispenza, Sean Dispenza, Chris Dispenza, Matthew Dispenza, Noel Tello and Herman Cochran.
