Helen Clara Causey

Helen Clara Causey died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 64.

Mrs. Causey was a member of Brown’s Chapel M.B. Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She served as office manager for a number of years for Causey’s Auto Repair.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Mamie Hegler.

She is survived by her husband, Dewitt Causey of Vicksburg; two sons, Robert Smothers of Vicksburg and Douglas Smothers of Sanai, Egypt; one daughter, Regina Brown of Vicksburg; and 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Lucille Wheatley of Vicksburg.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Hudie Earl Fells Sr.

FAYETTE Hudie Earl Fells Sr. died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at his home. He was 39.

Born in Adams County, Mr. Fells lived in Fayette. He graduated in 1981 from Jefferson County High School and was affiliated with the Locust Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Hudie Earl Fells Jr. and Frederick Smith, both of Union Church, Miss.; a daughter, Travalyn K. Smith of Union Church, Miss.; his parents, Thomas James Fells Sr. and Lucille McNair Fells, both of Fayette; two sisters, Enda Rena Smith and Brenda Faye Fells, both of Fayette; two brothers, Thomas Ray Fells Sr. of Fayette and Keith Connell Fells of Hamburg, Miss.; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Jessie Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral Saturday at the church.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Henry Jackson Sr.

DETROIT, Mich. Henry Jackson Sr. died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Veterans Hospital in Detroit, Mich. He was 69.

A former Vicksburg resident, Mr. Jackson lived most of his life in Detroit. He was chairman of the trustee board for New Saint Paul M.B. Church. He was a retired manager for the Detroit School System.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Jackson; a brother, James Austin Jackson; a daughter, Beverly Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Jackson of Detroit; three sons, Henry Jackson Jr., Tony Jackson and Dewayne Jackson; four daughters, Brenda Jackson, Barbara Jackson, Elizabeth Ann Jackson and Bridgette Jackson; his mother, Bernice Jackson of Vicksburg; two sisters, Henrietta J. Ellis of Kansas City, Mo., and Mary J. Ballard of Milwaukee, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends including, Richard Adams.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Mary Alice Lively

OAK GROVE Mary Alice Lively died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at her home in Oak Grove. She was 83.

Mrs. Lively was preceded in death by her husband, Thompson Lively; a daughter, Shirley Oliveaux; and her parents, John and Effie Elkins.

Survivors include a son, John Wesley Harris of Douglas, Ga.; a daughter, Elizabeth Woodall of Tallulah; a sister, Beatrice Edleston of Monroe, La.; 10 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and friends including, Willie Kimball of Oak Grove.

Services were at 1 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Delhi with the Rev. Floyd Duchesne and John Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Start Cemetery in Start, La.

Pallbearers were James William Johnston, Gregory Johnston, James Richard Brewer, Jacob Hamm, Sam Whitaker and James Wesley Harris.
