[3/19/03]A Vicksburg husband and wife were killed and an Oklahoma man was injured in a head-on collision in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Halls Ferry Road Tuesday night.
Kenneth Nettles, 47, and Donna Nettles, 53, both of Vicksburg, were killed in the wreck reported at 8:08, Vicksburg Police Department records show.
They were eastbound in a 1985 Chrysler just west of the Halls Ferry Road exit when the wreck occurred.
Their car collided with a westbound 2001 Chevrolet pickup driven by David Parsons, 23, authorities said. Parsons was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said today.
Vicksburg Police Investigator Fran Jeffers said Parsons was westbound when his truck crossed the median.
Jeffers said in a news release issued this morning that investigators did not know what caused Parsons’ pickup to cross the median, but storms moving through Warren County at the time may have contributed.
Deputy Chief Rose Shaifer of the Vicksburg Fire Department said interstate traffic was stopped for about two hours after the wreck.
The accident is the third fatal wreck this year in Warren County and Vicksburg.
