PCA’s Embry throws gem to ease past Magnolia

[3/9/03]Andrew Embry pitched a two-hit complete game and struck out 14 to lead Porters Chapel to a 5-2 win over No. 2 Magnolia Heights on Saturday.

Earlier in the season, the Eagles (4-0) beat No. 5 Simpson Academy.

Embry carried a no-hiiter into the sixth before allowing a bloop single. Magnolia Heights scored two runs on one hit in the seventh.

“Andrew pitched the best game he ever has for me,” PCA coach Randy Wright said. “He located his pitches well and had great velocity.”

Aaron Curry, Michael Shinn and Wes Massey each had an RBI single and Josh Rush scored a pair of runs after walking twice. Embry had a double.

The Eagles will play five games in three days starting Monday against Manchester at 11 a.m. and rival University Christian School at 6 p.m.
