game moved to Thursday

[4/2/03]The Mayor’s Trophy will be decided a day earlier than expected.

The baseball game between Vicksburg High and Warren Central, originally scheduled for Friday, has been moved to Thursday at 7 p.m. at Bazinsky Field.

The move was made to avoid a scheduling conflict with the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame banquet, scheduled for Friday night at the Vicksburg Convention Center. One of Vicksburg High’s starters, shortstop Justin Henry, will be honored at the banquet as one of the state’s top scholar-athletes.

“This being the mayor’s trophy game, I’m sure the mayor would like to show up at the hall of fame banquet, too, and he can’t be in two places at once.,” Vicksburg coach Jamie Creel said.
