Services for George Jackson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Jackson died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at River Region West. He was 86.

Mr. Jackson was a retired construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Mae Jackson; his parents, Willie and Joseph Jackson; three brothers, Sylvester Jackson, Willie Jackson and Samuel Jackson; and three sisters, Mary Joseph, Pinkie Nathan and Emma Trisby.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Williams of Vicksburg; two sons, Chester Smith and Charles Smith, both of Vicksburg; a stepson, Dale Smith of Vicksburg; two stepdaughters, Flora Smith and Annie Allen, both of Vicksburg; a sister, Ida Mae Reed of Chicago; a brother, James Jackson of Chicago; five grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Lodis Smith of Vicksburg.

Mary Estell Owens McPipe

WOODVILLE Mary “Estell” Owens McPipe died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at her home in Woodville. She was 69.

Mrs. McPipe was born in Woodville to the late Jimmy Owens and Charlotte Newton.

She was retired as a laborer from Joan of Arc Canning Co. and Fordice Construction. She was a member of Evening Star Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McPipe was preceded in death by her husband, James McPipe; a daughter, Mae Charlotte McPipe Broadway; four brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Earnestine McPipe and Gloria Bell, both of Woodville; three sons, Johnny Owens of Kenner, La., Willie McPipe of Zachary, La., and Lindsey McPipe of Baton Rouge; a brother, Richard Owens of Woodville; three sisters, MoseElla Howard and Emma Sims, both of Centreville, and Letha Owens Newman of San Francisco, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Evening Star Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Luther Bonds officiating. Burial will follow at Bell-McPipe Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Rollins Chapel in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Elmo Thompson Jr., Odell Wyatt Jr., John Wyatt, Johnny Lee Wells, Jessie Smith and Donald Ray Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Owens McPipe, Willie McPipe, Lindsey McPipe, Willie H. Bell, Jermaine McPipe, Delta McPipe and Richard Owens.

Cassandra Lorraine Johnson Price

Services for Cassandra Lorraine Johnson Price will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church on Lane Street. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mrs. Price died Friday, March 28, 2003, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 38.

Mrs. Johnson was a former employee of Shady Lawn Nursing Home and Vicksburg Convalescent Home with 18 years of services. She was a 1982 graduate of Hamilton High School in Memphis. She was a member of First Baptist M.B. Church.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe Roy and Izola Vaughn.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Earl Price of Vicksburg; two sons, Christopher Johnson and Kenneth Johnson, both of Vicksburg; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Barnes and Ja’Lynsia Price, both of Vicksburg; her mother, Verdell Edwards of Vicksburg; one sister, Demetress Thomas of Dallas; and other relatives.

Andrew Ragans Jr.

Services for Andrew Ragans Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church, Smith Station, in Edwards with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday at Robbins Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Ragans died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 50.

A native of Edwards, Mr. Ragans was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. He was employed in public works and worked for Anderson-Tully.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Caldonia Ragans.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ragans; a son, Kyle O’Shea Burks of Champaign, Ill.; three daughters, Amanda Ragans and Frances Ragans, both of Edwards, and Theresa Todd of Jackson; four sisters, Mary Hudson and Pearlie Norris, both of Edwards, and Geneva Wilson and Betty Harris, both of Champaign; three brothers, John Ragans of Champaign, Leonard Ragans of Vicksburg and Walter Ragans of Edwards; and other relatives and friends.
