Charles “Mickey” Dees Jr.

ROLLING FORK Charles “Mickey” Dees died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital. He was 64.

Mr. Dees was born in Eudora and had lived in Cary for the past eight years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a carpenter. He was a member of Eudora Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Clara B. Dees of Cary; four sons, Charles “Rickey” Dees III of Horn Lake, Thomas “Dickey” Dees of Eudora, Robert “Bob” Dees of Horn Lake, and Norman “Nick” Dees of Memphis; two stepsons, Carl Williams of Camden, Tenn., and Guy Williams of Rolling Fork; three stepdaughters, Sherri Thomson of Fayetteville, N.C., Ronda Reed of Parsons, Tenn., and Tammy Faye McClaum of Scotts Hill, Tenn.; three sisters, Joan Carson of Eudora, Carolyn Smotherman of Parsons, Tenn., and Ann Woodall of Eudora; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home .

Essie Ree Kyte

EPPS, La. Essie Ree Kyte died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at her home. She was 81.

Mrs. Kyte was born in Jones County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Ferman M. Walters, and her husband, Clifton Kyte.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Langham of Laporte, Texas, and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Chapel in Delhi, with the Rev. Pat Loftin officiating. Burial will follow at Epps Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Glenn Kyte, Jim Jones, Doug Traxler, Mike Traxler, George Ezell and Mike Waller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ferman Lewis, Robert Lewis, Leroy Lewis and Jake Lewis.

Jeanette Smith McGowan

Jeanette Smith McGowan died Friday, April 4, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 93.

She was a member of Holly Grove M.B. Church, where she served on the Mother Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest McGowan, and her son, Wilbert McGowan.

Survivors include two daughters, Flora Jean Coleman of Vicksburg and Joyce Ellis of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
