George Harris Jr.

George Harris Jr. died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 74.

Born in Tallulah, Mr. Harris was a resident of Vicksburg. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Lewis Miller Construction and a member of Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Harris Sr. and Evelyn Marshall Harris; and a sister, Bertha O’Neal.

Survivors include three sons, Anthony Harris of Jackson and Charles Harris and Carl Y. Harris, both of Vicksburg; eight daughters, Zanobia S. Harris, Diane Harris, Linda White, Delmarie Harris, Vicki Wilson, Faye Harris and Pamela H. Elam, all of Vicksburg and Paulette Harris of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a sister, Willie Mae Durrell of Vicksburg; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives including Evelyn K. Jackson of Vicksburg.
