Jimmie Collins
PORT GIBSON Jimmie Collins died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 83.
Mrs. Collins was a resident of Port Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Collins; her parents, Richard and Hattie Goings; a daughter, Carrie Rogers; three sisters, Richard Ellis, Hattie McCleagan and Ada M. Williams; three brothers, David Tinsley, Moses Tinsley and T.Y. Tinsley; and two grandchildren, Kenya Thomas and Derrick Rogers.
Survivors include three sons, Smith Daniel Giles and John Goings, both of Port Gibson and James Derby of Jackson; two daughters, Minnie Thomas of Port Gibson and Mary J. Curry-Smothers of Jackson; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Port Gibson with James Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the service Wednesday at the church.
Charles Michael Davis
DELHI Charles Michael Davis died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 45.
A resident of Delhi, Mr. Davis was employed with Crane Pro Services of Monroe.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Goodnight Davis of Delhi; three daughters, Gina L. Nielsen, Sami Layne Davis and Mika Lei Davis, all of Delhi; his mother, Shirley D. Davis of Delhi; his father, Samie Charles Davis of Delhi; one brother, Danny Davis of Houston, Texas; a sister, Cherie Turner of Leesville, La.; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dunn Baptist Church in Dunn, La., with the Revs. Eddie Fuller and Charles Daniel Best officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Memorial Park Cemetery in Delhi.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at the church.
Pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, Mike Wilhite, Johnny Baxter, Johnny Beach, Ken Loftin, Wayne Lovell, Chris Williams, Aubrey Guidry and Mark Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clayton Cooper Sr., Randy Fryer, Lynn Bassett, Dale Moore, Rick Smith, Mike Williams, Brady Smith, Mark Babb, Chester Morgan, Barry Reagan and Gary Stevens.
Louise H. Hopkins
TALLULAH Louise H. Hopkins died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 86.
Mrs. Hopkins was born in Leake County and had lived in Tallulah for the past 75 years. She was a homemaker and member of Parkview Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Melvin Hopkins and Felix Irvin Hopkins, both of Tallulah; three daughters, Lynell Laird of Tallulah, Kayren Brown of Monroe and Joye Antinori of Hawthorne, Calif.; two sisters, Jean Gibbs of Lake, Miss., and Katherine Massey of Newton, Miss.; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Cletus Moak and the Rev. Marty Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Thelma Ragland Smith
Thelma Ragland Smith died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.
A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Grover and Sara Boone Ragland. She attended Jett High School and worked many years at The Valley and Sears before her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Smith Sr.; a daughter, Linda Carolyn Mustard; a sister, Eloise R. Saxton; and a brother, G.C. Ragland.
Survivors include two sons, Henry H. “Bud” Smith of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and William D. “Billy” Smith of Vicksburg; two brothers, Kenneth Ragland of Vicksburg and Herbert Ragland of Citrus Hills, Calif.; a sister, Annie R. Portwood of Alexandria, La.; a brother, Jason Ragland of Oregon; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Francis Vriessen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tom Fulgham, R.C. Quarles, Jimmy Pearson, David Smith, Tony Kolb and Rusty Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Valentine, Johnny Kolb and Frank Kolb.
