John Frank Blue III
HERMANVILLE John Frank “Johnnie” Blue III died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at his home. He was 54.
A former resident of Columbia, Tenn., Mr. Blue lived in Hermanville and was an industrial technician for Dow Chemical Company in Baton Rouge. While serving the Army during the Vietnam War he received the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Frank Blue Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Tucker Blue of Columbia, Tenn.; two daughters, Merry Beth Blue and Cathryn Blue, both of Vicksburg; and a sister, Faye Haag of Smith Station, Ala.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Williams Columbia Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Collins and Ed Haag officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jon Haag, Micah Tucker, John Ruck, Phillip Burns, Larry Mercks, Pat Tucker, Marvin Newell, Glynn Newell and Alan Psota.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Rogers and Norman Hardison Jr.
Naomi P. Knighton
Naomi P. Knighton died Monday, April 14, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 85.
A native of Chireno, Texas, Mrs. Knighton was a resident of San Augustine, Texas, before moving to Vicksburg in 1968. She was former owner and operator of Tingleville Store and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Her husband, Wendell Knighton, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Knighton of Lubbock, Texas, and Marlon Knighton of Vicksburg; a daughter, Jean Atkinson of Vicksburg; a brother, Benton Parrish of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine.
Grandchildren will be pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Roosevelt Miller
ST. LOUIS, Mo. Roosevelt Miller died Monday, April 7, 2003, in St. Louis, Mo. He was 55.
A former resident of Redwood, Mr. Miller lived in St. Louis. He was employed by Dobbs International Airline catering service for 28 years and worked as a landscaper for Suburbia Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his father, McKinley Miller; and a brother, Larry Overton.
Survivors include a son, Jerome Miller of St. Louis; a daughter, Sharon Miller of St. Louis; his mother, Emma Miller of Redwood; six brothers, Julius Miller of Milwaukee, Wis., Ernest Miller and Leroy Miller, both of Edwards, James Miller of St. Louis, Robert Miller of Alexandria, Va., and Allen Don Overton of Vicksburg; four sisters, Sadie Miller of Redwood and Emma Roberts, Daisy Martin and Henrietta Miller, all of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services were Saturday at Granberry Mortuary Chapel in St. Louis.
