Christine Williams Abrams

DETROIT Christine Williams Abrams died Saturday, April 19, 2003, in Detroit. She was 68.

Ms. Abrams was a resident of Detroit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Pearl Williams; and two sisters, Gladys Linson and Mary Frances Williams.

Survivors include a sister, Gloria Jackson of Detroit; two brothers, James A. Williams of Essexville, Mich., and Sidney Williams of Keywalk Island, S.C.; and other relatives including, Elizabeth Williams and Sarah Allen, both of Vicksburg.

Chenault Funeral Directors in Detroit has charge of arrangements.

Shannon Bryant

FLORENCE Shannon Bryant died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at his home. He was 25.

A former resident of Clinton, Mr. Bryant had lived in Florence for the past two years. He was a self-employed carpenter.

He was preceded in death by Pat Bryant and Carl Fuller.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Danny and Sharon Bryant of Clinton; his mother, Diane McCollum of Vicksburg; a son, Hunter Bryant of Florence; two daughters, Katlin Bryant and Haley Bryant, both of Jackson; his grandmothers, Patsy Bryant of Brandon and Maudern Thomason of Edwards; two brothers, Blake Bryant and Toby Hill, both of Clinton; and three sisters, Carla Melton of Sarah, Miss., Crystal Sanders of Vicksburg and Sarah Bryant of Bude, Miss.

Services will be Friday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Bolton City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Fuller, James Fuller, Ronnie Sanders, Jeramy Houf, Lee Houf and Jimmy Edwards.

Julia Hunter

Services for Julia Hunter will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Saturday at the church.

Ms. Hunter died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. She was 76.

She was a member at Bethlehem M.B. Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bam and Johnnie Cox Hunter; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Johnnie Hunter Holland of Chicago; a sister, Lucille Crump of Edwards; three brothers, Wardell Hunter of Utica, Walter Hunter of Little Rock, Ark., and Roosevelt Hunter of Chicago; two nieces, whom she reared, Sharon Hunter of Irvin, Texas, and Jackie Hunter of Edwards; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Naperia K. Johnson

Naperia K. “Na Na” Johnson died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at her home. She was 13.

Naperia was an eighth-grader at Warren Central Junior High School. She was a member of Zion Traveler’s M.B. Church, where she was in the junior choir.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Louis and Annie Grady Wolf; and her paternal grandparents, Grace Johnson Short and the Rev. F.P. Short.

Survivors include her parents, Richard E. Johnson and Cherry Flowers Johnson, both of Vicksburg; a sister, Natica Renee Johnson of Vicksburg; and an aunt, Eunice Grace McKay of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Joshua Cortez Parker

Services for Joshua Cortez Parker will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Joshua died Thursday, April 17, 2003. He was 16.

A sophomore at Warren Central High School, he was a member of the brick masonry organization. He attended New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Patricia Stewart of Vicksburg; three brothers, Michael Parker, Jerome Parker and Sam Parker, all of Vicksburg; a sister, Jessica Stewart of Vicksburg; maternal grandparents, Juanita O’Neal and Herman Parker Sr. of Vallejo, Calif.; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Stewart of Hollandale; and other relatives, including Kameron Michelle Parker and Lester Miller.
