Rebecca Jane Deggans Roberts

BASKIN, La. Rebecca Jane Deggans Roberts died Sunday, May 4, 2003, in Delhi. She was 87.
A longtime resident of the Baskin, La., and Delhi areas, Mrs. Roberts was a former secretary for the Sunflower Cemetery Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Deggans and Annie Beatrice Cook Deggans; a daughter, Mary Jane Roberts; a son, Wilton Allen Roberts; four brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Wilton A. Roberts; a son, Edward W. Roberts of Baskin; two grandchildren, Mark A. Roberts of Baton Rouge and Toni L. Roberts Daschke of Little Rock, Ark.; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Deggans Lyles of Mangham, La.; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Mary Deggans of Monroe, La., and Nel Robbins Roberts of Abbeville, La.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Cox Funeral Home with the Revs. Will Rogers Young, Prentis Gandy and Marion Dunham officiating. Burial will follow at Sunflower Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Dunham, Leslie Dunham, Jason Dunham, Fred Watson, Robert Strahan and Howard Evans.

Mary Lee Smith
Mary Lee Smith died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 68.
Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Amelia Rush Knight; and three brothers, Dan Knight Jr., James Knight and John Harold Knight.
Survivors include seven sons, Albert Sweet Jr., of Gary, Ind., Jimmy Sweet, Raymond Sweet, Larry Sweet and Anthony Sweet, all of Vicksburg, Michael Sweet of Jackson and Ervin Sweet of Tupelo; four daughters, Dorothy Felix, Beverly O’Neal and Vanessa Thompson, all of Vicksburg and Mary “Tina” Brown of Shreveport, La.; four brothers, Willie Knight of Bellwood, Ill., George Knight of Virginia Beach, Va., Jeff Knight of Tallulah and Leonard Knight of Vicksburg; a sister, Thomasine Hale Bullard of Pensacola, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Helen Hansford Stribling
BROOKHAVEN Helen Hansford Stribling died Thursday, May 1, 2003, in Brookhaven. She was 95.
Mrs. Stribling was born in Arcadia, Fla., to Jesse Campbell Hansford and Harriet C. Smith Hansford. A homemaker, she was a member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church for 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harvey Stribling Sr.; a son, Dr. James Harvey Stribling Jr.; her brother, Bill Hansford; and a sister, Julie Elwood.
Survivors include her son, Carl William Stribling of Vicksburg; a sister, Vera Peacock of Altha, Fla.; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverwood Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home.
Ishmiel Wyatt
PORT GIBSON Ishmiel Wyatt died Friday, May 2, 2003, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 23.
Survivors include his parents, Johnny Ray Wyatt and Evadnie Wyatt, both of Port Gibson; two brothers, Roberto Ranger and Johnny Wyatt Jr., both of Boston, Mass.; three sisters, Maritza Ranger of Boston, Angelia Cox of Silver Springs, Mass., and Marietta Wyatt of Port Gibson; his maternal grandmother, Pearl Maxwell of Boston; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Seat M.B. Church in Port Gibson with Johnny R. Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery in Russum under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight with family hour from 6 until 7 at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the service Wednesday at the church.
